Roles performed
1. Group leader: Made sure that objectives of the project were met, allocated roles between
students, served as a link between students and the lecturer and made sure tasks met the
specific dates.
2. Secretary: Coordinated all group writing activities and kept all necessary records like team
discussions and decisions.
3. Materials manager: Distributed necessary materials between group members, checked
material for quality before submission on moodle.
4. Critic: Ensured the group avoids premature agreements and ensured that tasks were in line
with assessment criterion.
5. Presenter: Served as the group's spokesperson.
The project will offer a lot of support to making the overall teaching of subjects in schools, not just
in English. When learners are able to read and speak English well, they have better understanding,
and when they have better understanding, it helps in other subjects as well. Parents should also
assist in developing these crucial skills in their learners by engaging and motivating them to read,
and poetry is a great place to start sharpening those skills.
Reflection on learning: Due to working with group members towards the completion of
our project, we all have learnt to work together with other students, how to communicate
effectively. We learnt how to undergo a process of problem identification, going through
alternative solutions and finally implementing a solution to a problem. This project has taught us
how to think outside the box, how to analyze and make judgments about information. Most
importantly, we have learnt how to creatively create something useful.
By understanding that in order to get anything done well, team work is required. This has helped
us foster our collaborative skills. We had to do a bit of brainstorming before we arrived at our
final project idea, and even though we did not go with our individual original idea, we each
understood that others had better project ideas. Through the use of WhatsApp groups and other
platforms, we learnt how to use the internet in search for information.
