Exp 5 Conductometric Titration of SA Vs WB

1. The document describes a conductometric titration experiment of a strong acid (HCl) with a weak base (NH4OH). 2. The experiment involves titrating a 25mL sample of 0.1N HCl with a standard 1N NH4OH solution while measuring the conductivity at regular intervals. 3. A graph of conductivity versus volume of base added will show two straight lines intersecting at the endpoint, allowing determination of the strength of the original HCl sample from the known strength of the NH4OH solution.

DETERMINATION OF CELL CONSTANT:
Take a conductivity cell&determine its cellconstant using 0.1 N KCIsolution.
CONDUCTOMETRIC TITRATION
Fill the burette with standard 1 N NH,OH solution.
Take 25ml of the HCI solution ina 100ml beaker and dip the conductivity cellin it. And measure the
conductance initially.
Now add NH,OH from burette drop wise, i.e. 0.1ml for each of the addition. After each of the
addition, stir the solution gently by shaking and note down the change inconductance.
The measured conductance are recorded 8& tabulated in the table.
Plot the graph between conductivityagainst volume of base added, the intersection of two straight
lines gives the end point as shown in the graph.
Calculate the strength of the given strong acid from the known strength of the given base solution.
