1 INTRODUCTION
A coffee table is a low-sitting, square or rectangular piece of furniture that is usually
positioned in front of a sofa or set of chairs in a living room. Its main purpose is to give
stuff like books, periodicals, and drinks a handy surface to be placed on. Coffee tables
come in various styles, materials, and designs. Even while their main function is
practical, they also add to the living area's overall appeal and usefulness. The common
coffee table shown in Figure 1.

For this mini project, the dining table is designed with practicality and versatility in mind,
featuring a set of drawers that provide convenient storage space for various items,
keeping the tabletop clutter-free. Its movable wheels provide mobility, making it simple
to move and arrange the table while maintaining stability when required. The dining
table shape is rectangular. Additionally, the table incorporates a split table top with
sliding mechanism, enhancing functionality by enabling the tabletop to be multipurpose,
providing a flexible and comfortable surface for various activities. With these features,
the dining table can be very useful, coming with a built-in plate rack, cutleries storage
and multipurpose side drawer.
1.1 Problem Statement
Dining table is one of the most common pieces of furniture in the house. However, there are
many improvements that can be made. Dining table available in the marketplace does not have
many features for the users. The common dining table only can be used to put a few items.
There are no drawers that can be used to store items. Most of the dining tables also did not
include cutleries storage and plate rack. Next, it is also heavy and difficult to move from one
place to another place. Drawers, wheels and storage will be added to the dining table for
improvement.

1.2 Design Objectives

The objectives of the design are:

i) To design a product that can contribute to the community.

ii) To improve the existing product available in the marketplaces.

iii) To improve the safety of the product.

iv) To apply knowledge learned in MEC435 and CATIA softwares.

2 JUSTIFICATION
Despite its obvious simplicity, a common dining table is an essential piece of furniture
that greatly influences the aesthetics and practicality of a dining area. A dining table is
much more than just a functional piece of furniture; it's the center of everyday activities,
providing a platform for functional and aesthetic aspects alike. The dining table serves
as the room's main point and deftly blends form and function, striking a perfect balance
that encourages people to congregate, chat, and partake in a variety of activities. The
dining table is essentially a distinguishing element that gives depth and character to the
important space of a home, making it just a piece of furniture.

Modern multipurpose dining tables are a fascinating option for modern dining rooms,
and their success may be attributed to their clever blend of elegance and functionality.
Its cleverly designed layout maximizes living spaces by providing extra storage beneath
the tabletop for things like plate and cutleries. The table's ability to be multipurpose adds
to its adaptability, making it easy to convert from a regular dining table to a cozy
workstation or dining place. Built-in drawers or compartments emphasize this
multifunctionality even more, encouraging organization and helping to create a
clutter-free space. In addition to their practical features, these tables' sleek, modern
designs go well with contemporary furnishings, making them an eye-catching option.
The split open dining table exhibits inventive furniture design and can also be a
discussion starter while entertaining visitors. These tables are built to last because they
are composed of high-quality materials, which makes them both a wise investment and
a fashionable accent for contemporary homes.

In conclusion, the need to modify common dining tables to the evolving demands and
tastes of contemporary dining rooms is the driving force behind these modifications.
These adjustments improve the dining table's usefulness, versatility, and attractiveness,
guaranteeing that it will always be a desirable and relevant piece of furniture in modern
households.
3 IMPROVEMENT

1 Working space Adding a working space that also can be multipurpose

in whatever needs by users. Can be extended to be
table top for cooking preparation

2 Dining Space Dining space for users that can be extended according
to users needs. Whole tabletop can be split into 2 parts
which can fit multiple users in the same time

3 Drawer Drawer can be multipurpose according to users needs

such as storing cooking utensils, small groceries items
and dry foods

4 Storage space Central storage in the middle of the table top when
extended it does included plate storage racks, cutlery
holders for better accessibility

5 Wheels Consist of 4 free moving wheels that can be locked

into fixed position. Creature comfort that can be useful
when users need to move the table as per product
criterias, this multipurpose table can be very heavy
when used to maximum capability

This is the idea of improvement for conventional table design, and it encountered
several daily problems that users need to face for their daily life. The benefits of this
design almost countered all the problems that users have because of its versatility and
adaptability, timeless aesthetics, and efficient organization. By focusing on these
benefits, the improvements of the table design enhance the overall user experience,
offering a blend of functionality and aesthetics.
4 COMPARISON BETWEEN OLD VERSION AND
REDESIGN PRODUCT
The objective of the comparison between old and redesign products is to show the
benefits and improvements of the product. As everyone knows, basically people will use
a table separately which is for dining, and for work. so, this only makes the table only
used for one activity in a certain time. With the conventional design of a table, people
only can use it for one activity at a time and it will be difficult to share a table with
someone else who has a different activity. So, some adjustment had been done on the
table design. Other than that, there are also some of the features that were added on
this table to facilitate the work of the users.

to basic needs while preparing for foods

when food preparation is done. Built-in dish
rack and easy access to cutleries make it
easier for everybody to use without any
need to waste any space in the dining area
and kitchen.

3 Drawers Drawers are a very useful feature for all. As

it is built into the table, users can easily
access as many needed items such as
bottles, towels, etc.

4 Dish & Cutleries Storage Built into the table, when users need to
access these storages, they can instantly
access these items without needing to
sacrifice their time preparing. This storage
can be very useful as it can keep these
items hidden, away from dusty
environments.
5 Wheels Built-in wheels are very useful for such a
multipurpose table as it can be moved to
any liking place without needing to sacrifice
a lot of energy. As simple as unlocking the
wheels, this table can be moved around
easily in such a situation where users need
to clean up under the table.
