VALENCIA, SOME TIPS

Almuerzo
In Valencia we take lunch from 14h00. That means we need to eat something between breakfast and
lunch: el Almuerzo  A perfect place for it is a small bar inside the central market (or Mercado
central). The name of this place is Central bar. The owner has 2 restaurants with Michelin stars. But
this one is not expensive at all and is located in a very nice place! Just in from of Mercado Central
you find a nice Gothic building called “La Lonja de la seda” the visit inside is free (or just 1-2 euros)
and it is beautiful.

Nice areas to go out for dinner:

1. Barrio de Ruzafa: very trendy now. Full of restaurants and bars to take a nice gin-tonic or agua de
Valencia after or before dinner.
- For drinks: the area is full of nice bars. Some suggestions:
o Ubik café (Carrer del Literat Azorín, 13)  KIDS friendly!!
o Café Pessoa (Carrer del Literat Azorín, 2)
o Slaughterhouse (Calle Denia 22)
- For dinner: If you go from Thursday to Sunday, I suggest you call first and try to book a table!
o La Tasqueta del Mercat (C/ Maestro Aguilar, 2). Very good prices and food
o El Rodamon (Calle Sueca 47). Fussion food
o Maipi (Calle Maestro Jose Serrano 1): classical Spanish food. Simple and very good.
o Los Madriles (Av. del Regne de València, 48) Local food.
o El Rojo (Calle Literato Azorín, 10): for pintxos!! (little tapas)
o Copenhagen (Calle Literato Azorín 8) Vegetarian
o Nozomi Sushi Bar (Carrer de Pere III el Gran, 11D) It is expensive but amazing
2. Barrio del Carmen: very close to your Airbnb. It is the classical central area:
- For drinks:
o Plaça del Doctor Collado
o Plaça del Negrito (perfect for a mojito mousse)
- For Lunch/dinner:
o Pepita Pulgarcita (Calle Caballeros 19)
o Almalibre Acai Bar (Calle Roteros 16)

Paella or any other kind of rice

Please remember you can only ask for rice for lunch!! Never for dinner 
- Casa Carmela (http://www.casa-carmela.com/es/): it is located in the beach, so is nice for a
walk around! You need to do a reservation the day before. If you would like to eat rice, please
have in mind that they need 30 minutes to prepare it. But there is no problem at all, you can
ask something to eat before as a tapa  (calamares, cloxinas, tellinas, all i pebre)
- Galería Goya (http://goyagalleryrestaurant.com/) Reservation required. In the city center.
Very confortable. Also tipical, good quality and prices. In the website you ca see their menu, it
is indicated which rice dishes need to be “booked” in advance.
- L’Alqueria del Pou (http://alqueriadelpou.com/): it is my favourite but is not so comfortable if
you do not have a car… But maybe you could go by taxi (max 10 euros). Is also in the city, not
far away from all the Calatrava buildings.
Also here you need to book a table the day before and maybe even the rice (you have the
menu in the website).

Nice (half day) excursion

You can get there by taking the number 25 bus, run by the municipal transport company EMT. These
buses will take you to El Palmar and El Perellonet from Valencia city centre in under an hour, for just
€1.50 each way. Get off at the stop called Embarcadero (in the middel of nowere but just in front of
a boat services) or El Palmar (nice small rice farmers’ village, full of restaurants specialised in rice
and also the boat trips) bus stops to enjoy a boat trip across Albufera Lake on a traditional boat. The
boat trip costs 15 20 euros per person.
Below the link to the bus line with all the stops. To come back is the same line!

If you go by car el Palmar is very easy. For the boat trip you need to park before the village, here:
