ORGANIC FERTILIZER VS.
CHEMICAL FERTILIZER: A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT OF VEGETABLES
“ABSTRACT”
This study aims to compare the growth and development of vegetables, when treated with organic
fertilizer versus chemical fertilizer. The research will focus on the number of people who will be using
either Organic fertilizer or Chemical fertilizer. The main outcome of this study will be to provide valuable
insights into which type of fertilizer is more effective in promoting vegetable growth and development.
This research can aid farmers and gardeners in making informed decisions about their choice of
fertilizers, leading to more sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
“RATIONALE OF THE STUDY”
The research study, “Organic Fertilizer vs. Chemical Fertilizer: A Comparative Study on the Growth
and Development of Vegetables,” was initiated to address the increasing interest and concern about
sustainable agriculture and its impact on vegetable production. With a rising global population and the
need for food security, it is essential to investigate the benefits of using organic fertilizers compared to
chemical fertilizers in vegetable farming. The study aims to provide evidence-based insights into the
environmental, economic, and health implications of choosing between these two fertilizer types for
vegetable cultivation.
This research will contribute to the current body of knowledge by exploring the growth and
development of vegetables, a significant component of the human diet, under different fertilizer
regimens. By undertaking a comparison between organic and chemical fertilizers, this study aims to shed
light on the potential differences in crop yield, economic viability, and the sustainability of agricultural
practices. Moreover, the findings from this study have the potential to inform consumers, policymakers,
and agricultural practitioners about the advantages and disadvantages of each fertilizer type, ultimately
contributing to the advancement of sustainable and environmentally conscious farming practices.
“STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM”
Gardening and agriculture are vital for our food production, and the type of fertilizer used can have a
significant impact on the growth and development of vegetables.
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of organic and chemical fertilizers in promoting the growth
and development of vegetables.
Specifically, this research sought to answer the following questions.
1. What percentage of vegetable growers currently use organic fertilizer versus chemical fertilizer?
2.What type of fertilizer, organic or chemical, is more effective for the growth of vegetables?
3.What is the prevailing opinion regarding the comparative health benefits of organic fertilizer versus
chemical fertilizer among individuals?
“SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY”
Conducting a comparative study on the growth and development of vegetables with organic and
chemical fertilizers is significant as it can provide valuable insights into the potential benefits and
drawbacks of each type of fertilizer.
Multiple stakeholders will stand to benefit from this research study.
Farmers and Gardeners- Farmers and gardeners can gain insights into the effectiveness of organic and
chemical fertilizers, enabling them to make more informed decisions on fertilizer selection for crops.
Consumers- Consumers can benefit from a better understanding of the implications of fertilizer use on
the nutritional and chemical profiles of vegetables, promoting educated choices in terms of food
consumption.
Policymakers and regulators- Policy makers and regulators can benefit from evidence-backed
information on the environmental impact of different fertilizer types, potentially informing policy
decisions related to agricultural practices and environmental sustainability.
Future researchers- Future researchers can use the findings of this study to further explore the impacts
of different fertilization methods on various types of vegetables, contributing to the advancement of
agricultural science and practices.
Overall, the study’s findings can contribute to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental
stewardship, and consumer health, thereby benefiting society as a whole.
“SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY”
The comparative study aims to assess the impacts of organic fertilizer versus chemical fertilizer on the
growth and development of vegetables within the geographical area of Victoria, San Remigio, Cebu to
Luyang San Remigio, Cebu. The study will specifically target farmers and gardeners in this region.
The primary goal of the research is to compare the effects of organic and chemical fertilizers on the
growth and development of vegetables. Data collection will involve the administration of a structured
survey. The study will focus on factors such as the type of fertilizer (organic or chemical), the species or
variety of vegetables used, and the number of individuals utilizing organic or chemical fertilizers. Factors
such as the type of container, specific fertilizer brands, and other irrelevant variables will not be
considered in this study, as they are not directly related to the comparison of organic and chemical
fertilizers in relation to vegetable growth and development.
