ABSTRACT
In the last few years, e-commerce is ruling all over the world. In many cases,
traditional street-side businesses are resorting to having a counterpart which is e-
commerce driven. Though many people are using e-commerce these days for regular
purchases, expansion of e-commerce in the under-developed world is not that great and
needs a lot of improvement. This paper highlights an e-commerce portal developed for
farmers to sell their crops and other organic items. This will be at ease for the farmers to
develop their livelihood digitally, instead of going to the market and selling it.

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
E-commerce is the purchasing of goods and services over an electronic network.
It is powered by the internet, where customers can purchase from an online store. e-
commerce is further classified into 4 major types , which includes :(i)Business-to-
Business(B2B), (ii)Business-to-Consumer, (iii)Consumer-to-Consumer(C2C),
(iv)Consumer-to-Business(C2B)
The following happens when your order is placed. The browser will communicate
with the online store, soon after the order is placed. Post order validation, the order
manager will notify the store’s web server, which will then display a message notifying
that their order has been successfully processed. After this, the order details will be sent
to the warehouse for dispatch.
Agriculture is the largest dependent sector in India. Farmers are struggling for their daily
needs. When they go and sell their products in the market, they don’t get expected profit
as people tend to bargain. If the same is sold online, people purchase without any
second thoughts. For the ease of farmers, we have created a hands-on Java application
with a simple user-friendly interface.
The crops are cultivated according to the season, and once it is harvested, it can
be posted for sale online. Normally, farmers will contact the wholesale vendors to sell
the crops. The vendor may quote a lower price to gain profits, the Due to financial
constraints and no sufficient vendors, farmers sell it off sacrificing their profits. The
wholesale vendors again sell it off to retail vendors at a higher cost, which in turn again
is profitable for them. Then the end users buy it at a higher price, which in turn is
profitable for the intermediate vendors.
1
Innovation is the main impetus in each area. Subsequently, we utilize this
innovation to drive the farmers into a productive way. We have developed this
application in such a way that, there will be no vendors, and it will be a direct interaction
between the farmers and the customers. Our main aim is to make their business more
efficient and profitable with the new technology.
1.1 Purpose of Project
The purpose of e-commerce websites is to facilitate online trade easily for both
sellers and buyers. This can be domestic trade by means of B2C / B2B e-commerce
website or international trade by means of B2C / B2B e-commerce websites.
E-commerce websites usually integrate payment gateway into their website to accept
online payments for their products sale. They also have logistic partners to deliver the
products to their customers house on time. Usually e-commerce websites offers lots of
promotional schemes for both sellers and buyers to keep them at their e-commerce
platform and grow accordingly.
1.2 Scope of Project
eCommerce is still not at its peak and the scope of the eCommerce business in
India is still big. Thanks to the advancements of social media and mobile technology,
online shopping has become a new way of life. As you know people are now going
online to shop for clothes, appliances, furniture, and a lot more.
2
Another significant contributor to the future scope of eCommerce in India is the e-
tailing industry which largely deals in providing jewelry, apparel, and kitchen appliances
online. Websites like Flipkart, Myntra, Amazon, Snapdeal, Jabong, etc. are all examples
of the enormous success of eCommerce in India.
Due to these firms, India is one of the fastest-growing eCommerce markets in
Asia/Pacific with China investing as much. Many analysts believe that the advent of
3G/4G speed in net connectivity has been a major cog in the wheel for such growth in
this market.
India has been the heart of the e-commerce market since 2016 and it’s still
growing with a tremendous growth rate of 70%. The consumer base is expected to hit
900 million in 2024, and this ensures that any ecommerce website would soon be the
best business in India, as far as profits and growth are concerned.
1.3 Existing System
In the existing e-commerce portal to sell crops/fruits/vegetables, there is an
intermediate vendor or multi-vendors through which the products are sold to us. Here,
the vendor bargain with the farmers and get it at a very low cost and sell it to the
customers at a high price, thereby earning profits, which in turn affects the farmers as
they don’t even get the amount invested in the crops.
1.4 Proposed System
In this application, we have removed the need of intermediate vendors. That is,
the farmers can directly sell their end products online to the customers. Since this
application has a very simple UI, they won’t face much difficulties navigating through. In
this way, it is ensured that farmers get the maximum profit.

[1] Multi Vendor E-commerce Website for Farmers by Gomathy C.K, Jaswanth Reddy
Vulchi, Venkatesh Pathipati in 2021
Abstract:
As we all know that e-commerce is an emerging field in this digital world, all are
familiar and known with this technology. There are no boundaries in this field, urban to
rural all are frequently using online buying and selling operations in various aspects of
their livelihood. Food is one of the major needs of human beings, which is fulfilled by the
farmers. Right now, the farmers are failing to get a proper price for their products. So,
now we are bringing new and unique thought into action that is an ecommerce website
for farmers. We are trying to do a small help for farmers through this website. E-
commerce is opening to have a crucial impact in the farming sector. This is an e-
commerce website for farmers to ease their work in agriculture by providing a simple
online platform using the latest technologies. Apart from this, we are also providing
information about the new techniques and latest technologies in the agricultural sector.
This will supervise the farmer’s entrance to the new farming techniques and also helps
in comparing the present market rate of different products. This will help the farmers for
the utilization of current technology to find out the profitable ways for income. And also it
reduces the extra costs like transport and labour to the farmers. The farmer can save
time for the sake of searching for their desired seeds in the market as we are providing
a single easy platform. A User-friendly interface helps the farmer to make the desired
operations easily.

[2] E-commerce site for agricultural products by Megha Nayak, Pinky Wankhede, Neha
Khapekar, Komal Dhote in 2019
Abstract:
E-commerce is clearly beginning to have a major impact in the agricultural
sector. The way people go about purchasing agricultural products is of great concern.
Most of the time customers have to travel far distances to get agricultural products and
getting the right quality is not ensured. Our project aims to help farmers as well as
customers for buying and selling agricultural products across the country using a
computerized approach. The website will guide the farmers to access new farming
techniques, compare current market rate of different products, the total sale and the
earned profit for the sold products. The website builds a platform for farmers to ensure
greater profitability through end user communication. The website will act as a unique
and secure way to perform agro-marketing. E-farming will serve as a way for the
farmers to sell their products across the country just with some basic knowledge about
how to use the website. This project allows viewing various products available enables
users to purchase desire products instantly by online payment.

CHAPTER 3
Methodology
The application is developed using Java and SQL database. This is a simple e-
commerce application developed for farmers to sell their products easier, and enabling
buyers to purchase their products.
We have not used any specific algorithm to develop this project. It all works in simple
Java coding and connection to database. Registration of each category of user is saved
in the database. As we add products into the store, it is stored in the database for the
buyers to know the stock availability before purchasing the same. If the same is not
available, they can contact the store and order.
3.1 Java
Java is a programming language and computing platform first released by Sun
Microsystems in 1995. It has evolved from humble beginnings to power a large share of
today’s digital world, by providing the reliable platform upon which many services and
applications are built. New, innovative products and digital services designed for the
future continue to rely on Java, as well. Java was originally developed by James
Gosling at Sun Microsystems and released in May 1995 as a core component of Sun
Microsystems' Java platform. The original and reference
implementation Java compilers, virtual machines, and class libraries were originally
released by Sun under proprietary licenses. As of May 2007, in compliance with the
specifications of the Java Community Process, Sun had relicensed most of its Java
technologies under the GPL-2.0-only license. Oracle offers its own HotSpot Java Virtual
Machine, however the official reference implementation is the OpenJDK JVM which is
free open-source software and used by most developers and is the default JVM for
almost all Linux distributions.
6
3.2 MySQL Database
MySQL is free and open-source software under the terms of the GNU General
Public License, and is also available under a variety of proprietary licenses. MySQL was
owned and sponsored by the Swedish company MySQL AB, which was bought by Sun
Microsystems (now Oracle Corporation). In 2010, when Oracle acquired Sun,
Widenius forked the open-source MySQL project to create MariaDB.
MySQL has stand-alone clients that allow users to interact directly with a MySQL
database using SQL, but more often, MySQL is used with other programs to implement
applications that need relational database capability. MySQL is a component of
the LAMP web application software stack (and others), which is an acronym
for Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python. MySQL is used by many database-driven
web applications, including Drupal, Joomla, phpBB, and WordPress. MySQL is also
used by many popular websites,
including Facebook, Flickr, MediaWiki, Twitter, and YouTube.
3.3 Apache Netbeans
NetBeans is an integrated development environment (IDE) for Java. NetBeans
allows applications to be developed from a set of modular software
components called modules. NetBeans runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Solaris. In
addition to Java development, it has extensions for other languages
like PHP, C, C++, HTML5, and JavaScript. Applications based on NetBeans, including
the NetBeans IDE, can be extended by third party developers.

CHAPTER 5
Conclusion and Future Work
This analysis confirms that E-commerce will help the farmers in a way that they
achieve some profits for their hard work. The Ecommerce System is needed to improve
farming in rural society to make them aware of crops and their market prices. This type
of system is also helpful for the government to get the proper information about the
crops available in their respective areas. The study we made has predicted that the
development and transformation of E-commerce is a creative way of controlling and
market access for smallholders. We will develop a system that is easy and simple to
use by every rural farmer. The project we are doing will provide maximum earnings to
the farmers who do not get profits due to the wholesalers who quote their price for the
crops. All these unique technologies, advanced software solutions and network reforms
will help the farmers grow more and more and we strive for a better future for farmers.
Payment integration, order tracking and a more attractive UI will be developed in the
future, based on the scope of project.
