I. PARTS OF SPEECH CHART
1 – NOUN 2 – PRONOUN
A noun is a name. It indicates a person, place, The word which is used in place of noun is called
animal or thing. pronoun.
Eg. : The dog howled. Eg: It woke the baby.
3. ADJECTIVE 4. VERB
A word which is used as a modifier of a noun is A word is used to describe the action is called
called Adjective. verb.
Eg: The caring father rocked the baby. Eg : The loving mother comforted the baby.
5. ADVERB 6. PREPOSITION
A word which is used to give additional meaning to Preposition is a word that connects a noun.
a verb or an adjective is called as Adverb.
Eg : The dog howled loudly. Eg : The baby cried for a long time.
7. CONJUNCTION 8. INTERJECTION
A word which merely joins together sentences or A word of exclamation which expresses emotion
words is called conjunction. but which has no grammatical relation to the rest
of the sentence
Eg : The baby gazed at his mother and father. Eg : Oh, whats a beautiful house !
