launching his own fashion house in 1946.With its long skirts and nipped waists, Dior’s first
collection, which was unveiled in 1947, transformed women’s fashion and was dubbed the “New
Look.” The collection was a big hit and solidified Dior’s position as a top fashion house.
Additionally, he expanded his business to encompass menswear, accessories, and perfume. Dior
experienced catastrophe in his personal life. He battled alcoholism and depression. He had a
heart attack and passed away in 1957 while on vacation in Italy. Yves Saint Laurent and John
Galliano served as Dior’s successors, and the fashion house prospered despite his premature
passing. One of the most recognizable and significant fashion houses in the world today is the

The sleek, minimalist designs of French fashion designer and entrepreneur Gabrielle
Bonheur “Coco” Chanel (1883–1971) changed women’s clothing. Chanel was nurtured in a
convent orphanage after her 1883 birth in Saumur, France. She relocated to Paris and started
working as a seamstress when she was 18 years old.

She advanced swiftly in the fashion sector, and in 1910 she established her own hat-selling store
in Paris. Chanel established her first fashion house in Deauville, France, in 1913, where she
started creating and offering garments. She immediately established a name for her avant-garde
creations, which drew inspiration from menswear and emphasized comfort and usefulness. The
“little black dress” and the Chanel suit, which had a collarless jacket and a thin skirt, are items
she is credited with popularizing. Chanel shut down her fashion business and spent several years
in Switzerland during World War Two. In 1954, she relocated to Paris and reopened her fashion
business, which was an immediate success. She kept coming up with new ideas and introducing
them, such as the renowned Chanel No. 5 fragrance. Chanel was renowned for her unique sense
of style, which included donning a short haircut and wearing pants at a period when it was
frowned upon for women to do so. In addition, she was a trailblazer in the usage of jersey fabric,
which was typically reserved for men’s underwear. While Chanel died in 1971, her influence
endures. Her creations continue to have an impact on fashion today, and the Chanel
fashion house is still a significant player in the fashion business.
