konteksto.

VICTIM BLAMING
a devaluing act that occurs when the victim(s) of a
crime or an accident is held responsible — in whole or
in part — for the crimes that have been committed
against them
UNP
WHAT’s WRONG WITH
THE STATEMENT?
UNP
“You had to know what was going to happen
if you went up to that person's apartment.”
CONSENT IS A MUST. Every individual
knows basic human decency. Are we just to
expect something bad is gonna happen or
we are to think that every person is expected
to act good and transcend beyond their
carnal instinct?
UNP
“What were you wearing?”
If it is all about what we wear the why do
babies, old people and even dead bodies still
experience rape and other sexual abuses?
UNP
•“Why didn’t you come forward
sooner?”
Our experiences are valid regardless of how
may time have passed.
UNP
A study about Blame
Classic psychological experiment in 1966
Blaming the victim helps us maintain a positive view of the world. It
reinforces the notion that “bad things happen to bad people.” It
overlooks the fact that perpetrators are at fault for inflicting pain and
committing crimes.
UNP
Why is Victim blaming dangerous?
Blaming the victim makes it more difficult for that person to come
forward and report the assault.
On a societal level, it means fewer crimes get reported and fewer
predators get prosecuted.
Victim blaming also reinforces predator-like attitudes. It allows
perpetrators to avoid being held accountable for their actions.

openly with other people.

ASSIGNMENT
Watch ‘The Man’ music video by Taylor Swift and analyze the
different gender societal issues being highlighted.
Create a reflection paper of 1-3 paragraphs.
As a man/woman, how did the video make you feel?
Does the MV mirror our reality? How so?
What personal experience do you have that made you realize about the
massive impact of your gender in your life?
With your program, how will you be able to combat gender issues?
