1. A whole number can be expressed as the sum of two different prime numbers. If
the whole number can be expressed in two different ways, what is the smallest
possible value for this number? (Notice that ‘1’ is not a prime number.)

2. In ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶, 𝐴𝐵 = 12, 𝐵𝐶 = 24, 𝐴𝐶 = 18 . D is on A

the inside of ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 , such that ∠𝐴𝐵𝐷 =
∠𝐶𝐵𝐷, ∠𝐴𝐶𝐷 = ∠𝐵𝐶𝐷. EF passes through point
D and 𝐸𝐹 ∥ 𝐵𝐶. Find the perimeter of ∆𝐴𝐸𝐹.

3. Aaron, Bruce and Chris started racing from station A to station B at the same time.
When Aaron reached station B, Bruce is 20m away from station B and Chris is 40m
away from station B. When Bruce reached station B, Chris is 24m away from
station B. If all of them run at constant speeds, find the distance between station A
and station B.

4. Two procedures can be done to a number on the white board.

Procedure I: If the first digit and the last digit of three adjacent digits are the same,
these three digits can be erased from the white board. (For example, by doing
procedure 1, 202319 could become 319.)
Procedure II: We can add 1 to any digit which is not a 9. (For example, by doing
procedure II, 852339 could become 852349.)
The number 303612 is written on the white board, if we want to erase all the digits
of this number, what is the least number of ‘Procedure II’ that is needed?

5. In ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶, ∠𝐵𝐴𝐶 = 90°, 𝐴𝐶 = 42, 𝐴𝐵 = 56. Two semi-circles are drawn using AC
and AB as the diameter respectively, which intersect at point D. Find the area of
22
the shaded region. (Treat 𝜋 = 7 )

6. Jason has 49 robots. Each robot corresponds to a number from 1 to 49. Jason wants
to select some robots and arrange them into a circle such that the product of
numbers on adjacent robots is always less than 100. What is the maximum
number of robots that can be selected to fulfil this criterion?

7. An ant wants to crawl on the surface of a E F

cuboid from vertex A to vertex F. The
dimension of the cuboid is 6cm by 10cm by
12cm. Find the shortest distance travelled by
H G
the ant. (The figure below is not drawn to D C
scale.)

8. A multiplication of 10 positive whole numbers is written on the white board

(𝐴 × 𝐵 × 𝐶 × 𝐷 × 𝐸 × 𝐹 × 𝐺 × 𝐻 × 𝐼 × 𝐽). By replacing one of the ‘×’ with a ‘+’, we
can a total of nine new expressions. Given that 5 out of the 9 expressions have a
result of even number, find the maximum and minimum number of even numbers
among the 10 whole numbers written on the white board.
(For example, in the multiplication 12 × 26 × 2 × 33 × 16 × 49 × 31 × 9 × 11 ×
199, if we replace the 7th ‘×’ with a ‘+’, we can get 12 × 26 × 2 × 33 × 16 × 49 ×
31 + 9 × 11 × 199)

9. Out of the natural numbers from 1 to 2019, at most how many numbers can we
select to form a group, such that the sum of any 3 numbers from this group is
divisible by 9?

10. Select 10 natural numbers from 1 to 100, such that the sum of their reciprocals is
1
1. (e.g. the reciprocal of 4 is 4)

11. As shown in the figure below, the radii of the circle A, B and C are 2cm, 3cm and
10cm respectively. All the circles are tangent to each other, find the radius of circle
D.

12. In the following expression 𝐴 𝑀𝐸𝑅𝑅𝑌 𝑋𝑀𝐴𝑆 𝑇𝑂 𝐴𝐿𝐿,

(1) Each letter represents a different number.
(2) The starting letter of each word does not represent ‘0’.
(3) Each word represents a perfect square number.
(4) The sum of digits of each word is also a perfect number.
Find the numbers that satisfy these conditions and write down the expression
𝐴 𝑀𝐸𝑅𝑅𝑌 𝑋𝑀𝐴𝑆 𝑇𝑂 𝐴𝐿𝐿 in number form.

13. (a) As shown in the 3 × 3 tables below, we can add the same whole number to
three numbers on the same row, the same column or the same diagonal. For
example, we can add 6 to the three numbers 2, 3, 5 on the first row, which then
become 8, 9, 11. Such a change is considered as one action. Is it possible to change
all 9 numbers to the same number after several actions? Please explain your
answer.

(b) If we change the 9 numbers above to the numbers below, is it possible to

change all the 9 numbers to the same number after several actions? Please
explain your answer.

14. When a three-digit number is divided by 11 (not necessarily to be divisible by 11),

the quotient is equal to the sum of the three digits. Find the number of three-digit
numbers that could satisfy such condition. Please explain your answer.
