Dear Reginald Durr,
I am writing to express my interest in the Spring 2024 Registered Nurse New Graduate Training
Residency. Upon learning more about the program’s vision for new graduate development, I
believe this is a wonderful opportunity that I would love to be a part of to build upon my
foundation of knowledge and clinical experience to assist in developing into my future role as a
registered nurse. My highest interest is in Labor and Delivery. I am confident that I would be a
great candidate for the RN New Graduate Residency Program as I am highly motivated to work
towards to bettering my critical thinking and clinical skills, I am a very inquisitive learner, and
am dedicated to working hard to deliver high quality patient-centered care.
In December 2023, I am graduating from the University of Arizona College of Nursing with a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have currently been exposed to 527 hours of clinical
experience within the obstetrics field. During my education, I received 75 hours of clinical
experience through lab and clinical hours during my second semester. In addition, I sought out
the opportunity to shadow a labor and delivery nurse at Banner during my third semester. Over
the summer, I was part of the Student Nurse Extern Program where I worked three twelve-hour
shifts over a course of seven weeks. During this time, I worked directly alongside a registered
nurse, gaining exposure to labor and delivery as well as providing care in the neonatal intensive
care unit, the postpartum unit, and the women’s care unit. Furthermore, I completed my senior
preceptorship on labor and delivery which allowed me to immerse myself in 188 more hours of
hands-on clinical experience. From all this exposure to the field, it has only solidified that labor
and delivery is truly my passion. I went to nursing school with the goal of becoming a labor and
delivery nurse and now gaining more insight on the complexity, high-acuity environment as well
as the intrinsic emotional reward that comes with the work, I am eager to make a career out of it.
I am excited to join the team at Tucson Medical Center as I have had my clinical rotations there
for the past two semesters and have been employed here since June. Based on the care I have
seen delivered at your facility, it would be an honor to be part of a team that delivers such
compassionate care to all patients and even their families using an interdisciplinary approach. It
is immediately recognizable how important community is to the healthcare team and I highly
appreciate how supportive all the healthcare staff are towards patients and especially to one
another. I value that this program aims to improve training up the future generation of nurses in a
safe, nurturing, learning environment. I would truly love to have the opportunity be part of this
organization as I work towards transiting into my role as a safe, competent, and compassionate
registered nurse. I look forward to discussing my qualifications for this role in greater detail.
Sincerely,
Bella Rodriguez
