HEPARIN
- Anti coagulant (prevent further clotting)
- Subcutaneous
- A fast acting anticoagulant that works by heightening the
action of anti thrombin. (anti thrombin is a protein responsible
for inactivating thrombin and factor xa, which are two major
clotting factors within the body
- Suppress production of fibrin hence it will prevent the
production of thrombi or clot

CONSIDERATIONS
1. MONITOR APT AND PTT
SAFE DURING PREGNANCY
ANTIDOTE
2. PROTAMINE SULFATE
RESPONSIBILITIES
H - ave protamine sulfate at hand
E – end at two weeks
P – TT AND APTT
A - ssess for bleeding
R- emind not to aspirate or not to massage the area
I – njection via subcu 45 degrees
N – ote for hematoma
