The Rainbow alues Formation
Have you ever wondered why the rainbow cheers you up when it appears in the sky,
usually after the rain? Doesn’t it bring with it a sense of hope and a feeling of
meaningfulness? Express your view:
How does a rainbow come about? How does it originate and appear in the sky?
Remember your Science Lesson? Exchange & discussion.
Parallel to this is the Rainbow Lifestyle
Majority, if not all of us cannot but admit the fact that LOVE, is the most beautiful
thing on earth, and in the entire universe. Do you admit this? Can you find any other
thing more beautiful than LOVE? But if we really trace it, we need to go higher: for if
we go lower,it could only be an imitation and not the genuine or the original one! Yes it
comes from above:
As the Holy Bible states it, God is Love. So when He gave it to us at Baptism, He
restored in us His image and likeness, that we have lost, as stated in the Bible, He gave
this Love, free of charge, through Jesus His Son, who paid it at a high price, His very
own life, to bring us to our destiny- complete happiness and fulfillment with Him,But in order to make our life meaningful and down to earth, this Love has to be
refracted into different aspects Like the light refracted into 7 colors.
THE RAINBOW LIFESTYLE
‘You too can paint a rainbow in your daily adventure! How?
‘Try this—Make this your motto for a colorful, meaningful life:
T awe boon created as a gift of Love for the other,
and the other, as a gift of Love for me.
Chiara Lubich
Just look at the whole of creation: the plants serve for the other creatures like the
animals and humans, then the animals too serve as a gift for the inanimate things, as well
as for humans; humans have been made as real gifted of Love to one another, endowed
with the highest faculties of intelligence and free will. The human being, or Homo
Sapiens is the “master gift” of Creation. ‘The Creator, the Supreme Being has made
hin/her so, and entrusted humans as_ steward, of all the created things on earth; not to
dominate, but cherish and develop . You and I are to a steward, a gift of Love to the
world. Living along this motto would also help you to believe in the goodness of the
other with the help of your intelligence without being always defensive against or
suspicious about other’s words or actions, as well as remembering to consider the value
of the other's point of view, his/her feelings, as well. It will then be a mutual treating
each other as God’s precious gifts.
Try to reflect on this. Now that you have finished your High School years, you
can do something about it. if you wish to. If Yes, proceed with the following and
undertake them with a sincere heart, Everything written in vour journal or answers from
here onward are treasured and therefore unless vou wish to
share with close friends or ka-pamilya :
Equipped with your intelligence & determined will, you can do it all the way from
color Red to Violet. Life will be a colorful, challenging, exciting, and a promising
adventure as never before experienced. Note: 1) All protagonists of the life
‘experiences/stories have been named differently to ensure confidentiality. 2) Each color
input and activities is good for a semester of processing and interiorizing.74

Story of Tatoy, and His College Circle of Friends:
The true story of an intelligent poor boy, who never gave up
Tatoy was a school leaver for some years, his family couldn’t afford anymore to let
him pursue college. But after finding some ways and means through sipag and tiyaga,
sacrifice and patient endurance , finally Tatoy could go to College, He passed his
entrance Exams to take his dream course: Mechanical Engineering! Five years-how can I
climb those five mountains successfully....but he found good friends to. travel together.
He joined friends who would discuss the lessons after class and would go to the library.
They created study circles among them during their free time, Soon Tatoy found himself
sharing his knowledge to his classmates. He marveled how easily he could solve out the
difficult exercises in Math and the science subjects ,and wow those major subjects to
tackle together! He also offered his time in the Peer tutors group of the Campus Ministry
Reach out program, and he had a great passion for those who really were almost failing in
those fatal subjects as students would call them. His fiends also joined the choir,
doxology, and other committees where their talents fitted. They would go to Sto. Nino
Basilica near their school and pray together to ask for strength to carry on inspite of
difficulties.. They would also share their resources when some had little to buy handouts
and other student necessities. Together they would also research in the internet and
‘would remind one another when internet pornography came to the picture and was very
inviting. Their strong bond protected them from spending wasted time and money for
such indecent past time, They would remind one another of their dream to become
engineers one day, and so they were fiee from those dangerous fun for students. They
‘would lead in the Intramural games and field demos, their youth at full swing healthy and
vibrant, smart, and why not? Good looking, as well.
Finally the last leg ~end of 5" year ~they almost couldn’t believe it . time to reap
the harvest of their struggles and sleepless nights, tears and sweat, suspense moments in
those breath-taking exams. Before graduation week, they announced, Tatoy : Magna Cum
Laude, a rare feat in the Engineering department! His friends rejoiced with him, it was
their victory as he shared his jubilation .
‘Next to be tackled, Licensure review—also here they continued their solidarity
and unity grew even stronger. Before the Board Exams they pledged to live for one other15
‘They gathered altogether and prayed in the place where they used to have their
unforgettable shopwork. Then they also went with those of the same faith in church ARer
the Board Exams they thank the Lord together as they exchanged experiences, Tatoy was
calm and peaceful and he radiated it to the other friends who were quite anxious. .After
some weeks. The Engincering chairman was overjoyed when he reported the news to the
president: Tatoy made it as second top placer in the country’s Board Exam for
Mechanical Engineers! What great joy ! also majority of his circle of friends passed the
Exams, even those who thought they would fail. The College now a University where
Tatoy studied is proud of this humble poor boy guy who never gave up against all odds.
Not only his family who helped him out but also his circle of friends have the credit for
his success. Boundless was His thanksgiving to the Source and divine Planner of his
seemingly insignificant life

Money Can’t Buy Real Happiness —
Read & reflect on the Story of Jenny
Jenny was a Dean’s Lister in her Year level, Friends and classmates labeled her as
“beauty and brains’, because she was also one of the cadet sponsors in the college. But
life behind the scene wasn’t that easy. She would cry a lot when projects are asked in the
different technological classes because her allowance was very limited due to lack of
finances at home. She dreamt to be a teacher one day. In the summer before her Junior
year, she had an exciting experience, she recounted.
‘While she was window shopping in one of the malls, she noticed a young blond
foreigner following her, and finally wanted to make friends. Then he accompanied her
home to know her family. From that day on, Jos, visited her everyday, until he proposed
and promised to bring her to his home country in Europe. Jenny’s poor parents were
overjoyed at the proposal, but Jenny had mixed feelings also because she did not have
any positive feelings towards the guy. So she prayed before saying anything. She asked
God for guidance and tried to weigh things out. She knew it could be the solution to their
financial difficulties, but something within her told her, be careful ~ Money is not
everything. ..So after some reflection and prayer, she told her parents calmly how she felt
about the situation with Jos. She told them that she too has high dreams for them, for this
she studied hard and had good grades. But conceming Jos, she couldn’t agree to his
proposal because she didn’t feel any love for him. Moreover, she has heard many
horrible and tragic stories of Filipina risk —takers marrying foreigners unknown to them.
Her parents insisted to let her feeling develop without fear but with much “hope” in
this” great opportunity”. She also warned them that being all alone in a foreign land, if
she would be attacked by his wife or other legal relations, she would have nobody to run
to. No argument could convince them....but she understood their side and kept silent
.-In the meantime, Jos asked the parents if Jenny can start processing her passport.
Jenny was reluctant, so Jos waited although trying to convince her more insistently.
Then one time, in his usual daily visits, Jos expressed his disdain towards a
miserable - looking dog, covered with wounds almost without fur anymore. He
exclaimed. as Jenny recounted: Oh My! how miserable your dogs are, here.. our dogs
back home are really beautiful and furry...In a spur of the moment, Jenny had an idea
and retorted back forcefilly : alright Jos, if you don’t like our dogs here, you better get
out of here and never come back again!! Jos was so embarrassed and hurt that he
scurried off red-faced, blushing, and...to the parents’ disgust, he was never seen in that
neighborhood again. Jenny felt relieved and peaceful. She assured her parents saying:
don’t you worry Nay,Tay! I will be a teacher soon, then I will be a principal and I will
give you what you need to your hearts content. Just let me be free to follow God’s plan
for me and use my talents with freedom and Love!
Is this story applicable or relevant these days? Why or why not?_Share and exchange

Liza’s “Advocacy”
This is what an eleven-year-old Italian girl named Lisa did. She saw that her
classmate and friend Georgina was extremely sad. She tried to comfort her, but it did no
good. So she decided to find out what made her friend so sad. She learned that
Georgina’s futher had died, and that her mother had left her alone with her grandmother
and had gone to live with another man,80
As soon as she became aware of the tragedy, Lisa decided to do something about
it, Even though Lisa was only a litile girl, she asked Georgina if she could talk to her
mother, but Georgina begged her to go with her first to visit her father’s grave. With great
love Lisa went with her. There she overheard Georgina sobbing and imploring her father
to take her with him,
Lisa felt heartbroken. The ruins of little church were nearby, and the two girls
went in, the only things left inside the church were a small tabernacle and crucifix. Lisa
said, “Look, in this world everything is going to be destroyed; only the crucifix and the
Eucharist will always be with us.” Georgina dried her tears and replied, “Yes, you're
right!” Then with tender love, Lisa took Georgina by the hand and accompanied her to
her mother.
When they got there Lisa boldly addressed the mother with these words: “I know
this is none of my business, but I must tell you that you left your daughter without the
mother’s love that she desperately needs. I must tell you also that you will never have
peace until you repent and take your child back to live with you.”
The following day Lisa met Georgina in school and again tried to cheer her up.
But something new happened that day: a car came to pick Georgina up after school. The
driver was her mother. From that they on, the car has kept coming regularly, because
Georgina now lives with her mother, who no longer has any relationship with the man
she was living with,
In silence, reflect, on the story. Look into the secret of Liza, how she was able to do it?

Maria do Socorro’s Experience
You know that the world of students today is for the most part politicized and
little room is left to those who would like to be useful to humanity basing their actions on
their motives. This happened in Portugal. Maria do Socorro had just started college in a
very tense environment. Many of the other students were involved in political disputes,
each according to his or her own ideology and each trying to win over the students who
had not joined any group as yet. Maria knew what she wanted to do, even though it
‘wasnot easy to explain her whole strategy to her friends. She [Link] follow Christ and
remain united to him. Her companions, who knew nothing of her ideas, however, labeled
her wishy-washy, a girl without ideals.
‘At times she also felt awkward when they saw her go to church, but she went just
the same because she felt she had to remain united to Jesus. Christmas was approaching.
Maria was aware that among the students were some who could not go home because
they lived too far away, She suggested to others that they get together and give them
presents. To her great surprise, they all agreed right away. Later, school elections were
held and another big surprise awaited her: she was elected as a class representative. Her
amazement was even greater, however, when her friends told her that it was only logical
that she should have been elected, since she was the only one who observed a precise line
of conduct. “You know what you want” they said-“and how to go about accomplishing,
it.” Now some of them want to find out more about the ideal of her life and to live it with
her. This is the fruit of Maria do Socorro’s perseverance in remaining united to her God
as an authentic Christian,85

B) Robert’s Rainbow Experience, CTU Graduate
In his 1* Year of college, Robert brought with him his high School life of risky
adventures. And he thought life would continue as such. So when he would finish classes.
he would go out with ffiends and continue the fun they shared in high school: girls,
alcohol, and other similar sources of “ dangerous fun”. Before finishing the first semester
as an Engineering student, Robert felt his body numb all over. At first he just tolerated it,
‘but them he couldn’t go to school anymore, and he was almost. They had him examined
and the doctors gave him medicine but it did not alleviate his condition. So he had to rest
and was so worried of missing school. He thought he was going to die at the prime years
of his youth
Then his neighbors suggested to his parents to bring him to a well known priest
to expel the evil spirits if ever he was possessed by them. So they did as the last attempt
to save his life. In the peaceful compound of Mary’s Little Children Community, he
arrived almost exhausted . As the priest talked gently to him laying his hands on him, he
‘was asked if he was happy to share with the priest all that was heavy deep within him,
As a Catholic, he was also encouraged to feel free to confess what was bothering his
conscience. Robert felt a great strength which seemed mysteriously coming from Above,
His parents were praying as they waited for him. So he was happy to tell all about his
past life, and felt free to confess to the priest. After the beautiful sharing which lasted
some hours, the priest blessed him and with special prayers (that he was mandated to
coffer for some persons who need it), he expelled the evil forces that may have enslaved
the body of Robert to restore it as the temple of the Holy Spirit. Robert felt some kind of
a power rushing in his body and like a miracle, he felt strengthened and re-invigorated
again. When he came out of the consultation/reconciliation room, he felt all new within
no longer physically weak but above all renewed in the spirit, filled with a new stamina
coming from God, he understood. He thanked the Lord in the chapel as he prayed like he
never prayed before.
Thus Robert started a new life... He chose good friends in school and found them
at the Campus Ministry. Since he had the talent to play the guitar he learned the Mass
songs and served as the guitarist of the choir. He felt he was strengthened by good friends
whom the Lord has placed near him, to continue his life’s journey. In 2008, Robert
graduated college and after the review he passed the Mechanical Engineering Licensure
Exam. Now he works in an overseas Shipping Company. He remarked, that the Lord
prepared and strengthened him so that he could no longer be tempted by the world and its.

Read the following Russian story :
The Lost Mom
Ina busy mall in Moscow, a little boy who lost her mother, was crying in the midst
of the crowd. The guard of that area took him gently by the hand and assured him that
soon they will find his Mom.
The boy continued crying “Mommy, mommy,” then taking more interest, the guard
bent down and almost hugging the boy, he inquired: how does your Mom look like?
The little boy stopped crying, thought awhile and said: she is the most beautiful
Mommy... yes, the most beautiful woman you can see...he said amidst tears running
down on his cute chubby cheeks. For some hours, in vain they couldn’t find the boy’s
mother. The boy was already tired, hungry and sleepy; he was almost at the point of
desperation when he looked towards his right, and his face gleamed with joy- lo and
behold - Mommy was just running towards him! He ran and hugged her and wouldn’t let
her go, not anymore. He was filled with joy, and seemed to be no longer tired, hungry,92
nor sleepy. The guards and the people around them were speechless as they stared at the
scene of mother and son... especially looking closely at the mother! No trace ever on her
as the most beautiful mother or woman the way she was described by her son, or as
compared with the other women in the mall; in fact her hair was all ina mess, and her
face was quite covered with sweat, looking groggy and drained probably from the
pressure of looking desperately for the lost son; No special beautiful characteristics on
her face could be found at all- just a plain common Russian mother !
But the most beautiful scene, was that one of the boy - who found at last the woman-
whom he had the most beautiful loving relationship with, Yes, that made them
understand why the little boy described her Mom as such—because he must have found
in her the greatest love a Mom could give to her son and the son saw her true beauty
therein.

Beyond Barriers
‘That is what happened to Lella. Some months had passed since the day when, full
of hope, she first reported to her new job in Belgium among the Flemish-speaking people.
But now a sense of dismay and loneliness had taken hold of her heart,
It was as though between her and the girls with whom she lived and worked, an
insurmountable barrier had been erected. She felt isolated and estranged among those
people whom she wanted only to serve with love. It was all because she had to speak a
language which was neither hers nor those to whom she was speaking with. They had
told her that everybody spoke French in Belgium and she had learned it. But coming in
direct contact with those people she realized that the Flemish people studied French only
in school and in general spoke it unwillingly.
Many times she had tried to move this mountain of segregation that kept her apart
from others, but in vain. What could she do for them? She could still see before her the
face of her companion Godelieve, full of sadness. That evening Godelieve went up to her
room without touching her supper. Lella tried to follow her, but she stopped in front of
the door, timid and scared. She wanted to knock... but what words should she use to
make herself understood? She remained there for a few seconds, then she gave up.
Next morning she went to church and stayed at the back behind the last pews, her
face buried in her hands so that no one would notice her tears. It was the only place
where no other language needed to be spoken, where no explanations were required,96
because there was Someone who understood beyond words. With the certainty of being
understood, she gathered courage and, her soul in anguish, she asked Jesus: “Why can I
not share the cross of the other girls and tell them what you yourself have made me
understand when I found you: that every suffering is love?” There she was in front of the
tabemacle, almost expecting an answer from him who had brought light into every
darkness of her life. She tumed her eyes to the Gospel of the day and read: “Trust ~ have
faith —I have conquered the world.” These words were like balm on Lella’s soul, and she
felt a great peace,
When she went back for breakfast, she met Annj, the girl who did the
housecleaning. She greeted Annj and followed her into the storeroom, then, without a
word she started to help her prepare breakfast. The first person to come down from the
room was Godelieve. She came to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, quite in a hurry to
avoid seeing anyone. But there, she stopped; Lella’s peace had touched her soul in a
manner stronger than any word.
‘That evening, on the way home, Godelieve pedaled her bicycle beside Lella’s,
and trying to speak in a way Lella would understand, she whispered, “Your words are not
necessary; today your life told me: love means more than words.” The mountain had been
moved!
Based on Lella’s experience , what does communication really consist in?
How can we communicate to others in such a way as fo reach them and they, too reach
us?
‘What stops us or people around us to communicate with one another especially when
conflicts or miscommunication arise?
What can Ido now to improve my way of communicating with others?

‘Write in your journal: Rainbow connection- Violet
Ask your folks how did they connect with their close friends or kapuso during their time?
‘What did you learn from them?
Reflect: then remember before communicating :
‘Communication is rooted in the benevolent desire to grow in one’s relationship with the
other, to empathize and share with the other person what is of benefit to her/him so as to
facilitate the journey together towards your targeted goal, towards fulfillment and
success.
‘Thus communication facilitates unity and strengthens bonds with one another.
It is therefore not to gain profit from the other or to make business out of the
‘communication done, it is not to put up one’s self and one’s group and to put others
down,
The secret in communication is to forget one’s own self, put aside one’s own
idea, fo listen to the others'point of view, to appreciate the others? ideas/suggestions to
reach a certain common goal and welfare.. It is to edify or build up the relationship by
expressing mutual concern for the other, thus becoming part of one anothers’ joy’s and98
sorrows. Of course there are moments when one can disagree but not be disagreeable,
especially when beliefs and principles are touched. But it is better to bend but not
break, Only when it goes aaginst God’s law (or one’s conscience ) or when it destroys
our dignity as His children, then we should no longer agree or accept.
Consequently in communicating and sharing to the other, joys are multiplied and
burdens and sorrows are divided and made lighter.
Logically, with this type of communication, there is more understanding and
openness, without fear of being misinterpreted or judged. There will be less conflicts,
less jealousy and pride, and the wounds of hatred and division gradually healed. The way
towards unity with God becomes the road more traveled because humanity will have
learned how to be true brothers and sisters traveling hand in hand together in the holy
journey of life towards that Paradise once lost, but now gained .The Divine Lover has
made us One by His Love stronger than death! !
