REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter presents the review of related literature and studies which
contain foreign and local readings, gap to be bridge by the study, theoretical and
conceptual frameworks which are relevant to this study.
Foreign Literatures
STATE ATLEAST 5 FOREIGN LITERATURES RELATED TO YOUR
STUDY IN RECENT YEARS USING APA FORMAT FOR INTEXT CITATION
example:
In Netherlands, Roth and Gainier (2015) observed that, learning science
subjects were quite unique. In class, students assumed responsibility for their
own learning and were expected to monitor their own work as well as progress.
Local Literature
STATE ATLEAST 5 LOCAL LITERATURES RELATED TO YOUR STUDY IN
RECENT YEARS USING APA FORMAT FOR INTEXT CITATION
example:
Jalbani (2014) in his article he discusses and focuses on impact of
effective learning strategies on the student’s academic performance and learning
outcome. He mentioned also that a teacher plays a vital role within a few hour in
13
the classroom by delivering the daily specific planned context which is a part of
the curriculum that the teachers to follow.
Foreign Studies
STATE ATLEAST 5 FOREIGN STUDIES RELATED TO YOUR STUDY IN
RECENT YEARS USING APA FORMAT FOR INTEXT CITATION
example:
Technology in online distance education classes may have a more
important effect on learners in some situations than others due to individual
differences in performance and variations of interaction between task, learner,
and
technology (Wolfe, 2018).
Local Studies
STATE ATLEAST 5 LOCAL STUDIES RELATED TO YOUR STUDY IN
RECENT YEARS USING APA FORMAT FOR INTEXT CITATION
example:
Alvarez et al. (2014) study about the analysis of the practical
implementation of two teaching techniques so-called problem-based learning and
cooperative learning. These techniques were applied to some courses in the
department of mechanical and electrical engineering and evaluated through
assessment rubrics. However, they use a sample of students and teachers, the
assessment rubrics were applied to numerically evaluate the proportion of each
14
course, in which the teacher uses traditional teaching versus teaching for
meaningful learning.

Theoretical Framework
STATE HERE THE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK OF YOUR STUDY
Example
The study utilized the Expectancy-Disconfirmation Paradigm (EDP) for the
assessment of satisfaction. The model implies that consumers purchase goods
and services with pre-purchase expectations about the anticipated performance.
The expectation level then becomes a standard against which the product is
judged. That is, once the product or service has been used, outcomes are
compared against expectations. If the outcome matches the expectation
confirmation occurs. Disconfirmation occurs where there is a difference between
expectations and outcomes. A customer is either satisfied or dissatisfied as a
result of positive or negative difference between expectations and perceptions.
Thus, when service performance is better than what the customer had initially
expected, there is a positive disconfirmation between expectations and
15
performance which results in satisfaction, while when service performance is as
expected, there is a confirmation between expectations and perceptions which
results in satisfaction. In contrast, when service performance is not as good as
what the customer expected, there is a negative disconfirmation between
expectations and perceptions which causes dissatisfaction.
This Theory then is applied to determine the perceived level of satisfaction of
selected maritime students in the delivery of lessons of the Maritime Instructors
in Mariners’ Legazpi.
This study’s theoretical framework is shown in Figure 1.
