Chapter I Introduction
A. Background
There is two genre of particular text-types, has 2 different kinds. Each one of
them has a different function, generic structure, and the language features. Two
different kinds of genres are fiction and factual genre. The fiction genre has a
function to amuse or entertain the readers, while the factual genre has a function
to tell the readers about some information based on the facts.
Examples of the fiction genres are: science fiction, romance novel, action
adventure, and a fairy tales, and so on. While the factual genres are: narration
text,
explanation text, report text, procedure text, and so on. Each types of text in
each
genres have some similarity, such as procedure and explanation text. They both
give you a detail information based on the facts and they both explaining how
some process occured.
But in this paper, we are going to talk about procedure text furthermore. In
order
to give the readers a sight into a procedure text in detail. Next, the readers will
be
able to define what a procedure text is, what are the generic structures, also the
language features in procedure text. Finally, pay a deep attention to the topic
that
we discussed in here.

CHAPTER II THEORY AND DISCUSSION
A. Explanation
1. The definition of procedure text
In general, Procedure text is a text that is designed to describe how something is
achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform
different processes in a sequence of steps. And here is the more detail definition
about procedure text.
There are three definition about procedure text :
(1)Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction or
operation
manuals such as how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the
photocopier, the fax.
(2) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity suh as recipes, rules for
games, science experiments, road safety rules.
(3) Texts that deal with human behavior, such as how to live happily, how to
succeed, how to succeed your interview.
2. The generic structure of procedure text
The generic structures of procedure text are:
A. Goal or Aim (title)
B. Materias or ingredients (not required for all procedure texts)
C. Steps 1-n (the actions that must be taken to perform the procedure)
3. The language features
In the Procedure Text, we use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE:
A. Use of imperatives (for example: cut, don t mix) ‟
B. Use of action verbs (for example: turn, put, mix)
C. Use of connectives (for example: first, then, finally)
D. Use of adverbial phrases (for example.: for five minutes, 2 centimeters
from the top)
E. Use mainly temporal conjunctions (or numbering to indicate sequence),
such as first, second,then, next, finally, etc.
F. Use of material processes.
G. Focus on generalized human agents.

How to Starting and Turning Off the Computer
1. Steps in starting the computer
Make sure all cables are properly and correctly connected. Try to be neat
in arranging the cables
Start turning on stabilizer if you have one
Press the power button on the monitor to turn on the monitor
Press the power button on the CPU to turn on the computer
After all devices have been turned on, wait for the boot process to finish
until the desktop screen displays on the monitor
The computer is ready to operate
2. Steps in turning off the computer
Point the mouse pointer to the lower left corner of desktop
Click the “start” menu then look for the power button in the lower left
corner
Click the power button
Click shut down
Wait until the computer turns off completely
Turn off the stabilizet and turn off the electricity flowing to the computer
for better computer maintenance

A. CONCLUSION
The conclusion of this writing is:
1. Procedure text is a text that contains a text or series of actions or
steps in
making an item or activity
2. Generic Structure of procedure text are aim or goal, material, and
steps.
3. Procedure text to describe how to make something through
asequence of
actions or steps.
4. Procedure text usually focus of generalized human agent, use
mainly
action processes, simple present tense, imperative sentences, and use
of temporal
conjuctions.
B. SUGGESTION
We are as writer want to apology for the shortage of this paper. We
know that
this paper is still far from perfect. So that we need the suggestion
from the
readers for the perfection of this paper.
