Healthy Eating Project
This project is a fun way to explore healthy eating, cooking skills, and effective
communication. Enjoy the process and have a great time learning about nutritious food
choices!
Objective: To encourage students to think about and prepare a healthy lunch at home,
while also developing their understanding of nutrition and healthy food choices.
Additionally, students will practice presentation skills and peer assessment.
Assignment Details:
Part 1: Creating a Healthy Lunch Recipe
Choose a Healthy Lunch Recipe: Your task is to select a lunch recipe that you
believe is both delicious and nutritious. This recipe should be something you can
easily prepare at home.
• Recipe Presentation:
Write down your chosen recipe on an A4 paper. Include the following details:
✓ Recipe Name
✓ List of Ingredients:
Write down the ingredients required for your lunch and specify the
exact amount in grams for each ingredient.
✓ Nutritional Information:
Calculate and record the approximate amount of protein,
carbohydrates, and fat in your lunch. You may use online resources or
nutrition labels on food items to help with this.
✓ Conclusion:
Write a brief conclusion explaining why you consider your chosen lunch
to be healthy for you. Mention what specific nutritional benefits it
offers. Also, think about what could be improved in your recipe to
make it even healthier.
Part 2: Outdoor Presentation
Outdoor Session: We will have an outdoor session on the school ground where each
student will present their chosen healthy lunch option. You will need to explain why you
think it's a healthy choice and any improvements you'd make.
Peer Assessment: During the presentation, each student will be given the opportunity
to assess their peers' presentations. You should pay attention to the following aspects
and provide constructive feedback:
✓ Presentation Skills: How well did the presenter explain their chosen lunch?
Were they clear and confident in their presentation?
✓ Nutritional Content: Do you believe the lunch is indeed healthy? What are
the strengths and weaknesses of the meal in terms of nutrition?
✓ Suggested Improvements: Provide suggestions on how the lunch or the
presentation could be improved.
Submission Guidelines:
❖ Your written recipe, nutritional information, and conclusion should be neatly
presented on an A4 paper.
❖ During the outdoor session, students will be split in groups. Each student will
have approximately 3-5 minutes to present their lunch choice for their group.
❖ Peer assessments should be respectful and constructive.
Assessment Criteria:
Your project will be assessed based on the following:
✓ Clarity and completeness of the written recipe and nutritional information.
✓ Thoughtfulness of the conclusion regarding the lunch's healthiness and potential
improvements.
✓ Presentation skills during the outdoor session.
✓ Constructive and respectful peer assessments.
