This document provides information and formulas for conducting a structural dead load analysis according to the National Structural Code of the Philippines 7th Edition. It defines standard dead weights for various building materials and service loads. It also provides dimensions for sample building spans, heights, and member sizes. Formulas are given to calculate the dead load contributions of ceilings, floors, slabs, partitions, beams, and columns based on their dimensions and material properties.

Structural Dead Load Analysis

This document describes the analysis, design criteria, and procedures applying the
National Structural Code of the Philippines 7th Edition.

A. STANDARD DEAD WEIGHT OF MATERIALS

-suspended metal lath
Weight of Ceiling, WC = 0.480 KPa and gypsum plaster
-ceramic or quarry tile
Weight of Floor Finish, W FF = 0.770 KPa (20 mm) on 13 mm

Service/Miscellaneous Loads, W SL = 0.100 KPa -additional load

-16.5 kN/m³ - 100 mm
Weight of Concrete Masonry Units W MU = 2.980 KPa thick CHB with full grout
Unit Weight of Concrete, γC = 23.54 KN/m3

B. DIMESIONS
Longitudinal Span = 5 spans
L1 = 5.000 m
L2 = 5.000 m
L3 = 3.000 m
L4 = 5.000 m
L5 = 5.000 m

Transverse Span = 3 spans

L1 = 2.000 m
L2 = 3.750 m
L3 = 3.750 m

Storey Height
3rd Storey
1st Storey Height = 3.000 m
2nd Storey Height = 3.000 m
1st Storey Height = 3.500 m
Total Storey Height = 9.500 m

Column Size (1st to 3rd level) = 0.300 m x 0.300 m

Beam Size (1st to 3rd level) = 0.200 m x 0.400 m
Roof Deck, 2nd & 3rd Floor Slab Thickness = 0.100 m

C. FORMULA
Weight of Ceiling
W C = (Bay Length) (WC)
Weight of Floor Finish
W FF = (Bay Length) (WFF)
Weight of Service/Miscellaneous
W SL = (Bay Length) (WSL)
Weight of Slab
W S = (Bay Length)(Thickness of Slab) (γ C)
Weight of Partition
W P = (Height of Partition) (WCMU)
Weight of the Beam
W B= (Cross-Sectional Area of Beam) (γC)
Weight of Column
W Col = (Area of Column)(Height of Column) (γC)
