ICT grade 2 notes

 A computer is electronic device which processes data to information.


 Input is the data we enter to the computer
 Processing is changing data into information by instructions given to the computer.
 Output is the information we get from the computer
 Instructions given to a computer comes in the form of a computer program.

 Input devices
1. Keyboard:
 Is used to type the data. It has alphabets, numbers and signs printed on its
keys.

2. Mouse:

 Is used for pointing and clicking.

3. Touch screen:

 We touch the graphic icon to execute it.

4. Touchpad:
 Is a pressure-sensitive pad that controls the pointer. Used in laptops.

5. Joystick:

 Used for playing games.

6. Scanner:
 Used to copy the textural or graphic contents on a paper into a computer.

7. Microphone:
 It used to record sounds into a computer. Has two types:

 It used to take pictures and store them. Has two types:

 Processing device
Central processing unit (CPU):
 It is the brain of the computer
 It is found on the motherboard
 It does all the processing for the computer

 Output devices
1. Monitor:
 Used to display the output

2. Printer:
 It prints information and picture onto a piece of paper.

3. Speakers:
Give u sound coming from your computer.
4. Headphones:
 Are used if u want to hear any sounds by yourself
