LESSON PLAN
GRADE/PROFICIENCY LEVEL: SUBJECT:
3rd Math
CONTENT STANDARDS:
Mathematical Reasoning 2.3: Use a variety of methods, such as words, numbers, symbols, charts, graphs, tables,
diagrams, and models, to explain mathematical reasoning.
LEARNING GOALS/TARGET (telling objective):
Students will be able to use data from a graph to solve problems with 75% accuracy.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS (technology):
Candy
Anchor Chart
Google Slides with Vocabulary
Worksheets
KEY VOCABULARY:

Guided Practice:
I will complete the first portion of the worksheet with the students, asking them guiding
questions as we go. Then, students will be released to solve one problem on their own, but
we will check back in to review correct answers.
Independent Practice:
Finally, students will work independently, with their seat partner as support, to complete
the worksheet about bar graphs. At the end of the lesson, students will complete an exit
ticket on their own.
Lesson Review:
After the exit ticket I will review bar graphs with my students as needed.
DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION:
I will display vocabulary words with visuals on Google Slides for my EL student. FS2 will be given a
lighter workload, as is required by her IEP. She will also be given additional positive reinforcement for
each question that she completes. FS3 is an advanced student who will be given additional challenge
questions, on a math website called Splash Learn, so that he remains engaged and challenged when he
finishes.
ASSESSMENT:
Informal Assessment: I will informally assess through walking around and monitoring during the lesson, as
well as through reviewing the worksheet responses.
Formal Assessment: I will formally assess students by giving them an exit ticket that will show me if they
understand how to solve problems from a bar graph.
