Christian Ethics and Model and Approach to Best Represent Christian Faith

Description of Christian Ethics

Christian ethics are values and moral beliefs which guide the conduct and behavior of

Christians. These values and beliefs reflect what the bible teaches about the acceptable

personal character traits, actions, and attitudes that Christians should embrace and practice in

their daily life. This implies that Christian ethics serve as guide that directs Christians on how

to live in a manner that glorifies God and obeys His teachings and commandments. For

instance, these ethics indicate the expected behaviors as well as the actions that are not

allowed. For example, Christians are ethically required to be truthful and not to bear false

witness as instructed by the bible as the word of God. Therefore, Christian ethics are the

values and beliefs that are based on morality and the biblical teachings that guide Christians

on the acceptable and unacceptable behaviors and conduct.

Ethical Areas in the Life of a Believer and Main Conflicts a Believer can Face in

Making Choices

The various ethical areas in the life of a believer include being satisfied with God has

given us and being grateful for what we already have. Another area is being truthful, respect

other people’s properties, protecting life, and respecting family and authorities. Additionally,

Christians are expected to work and rest, recognize God as the source of all good gifts,

always putting God first, and seeking to bring honor to His name and character. For instance,

believers are required to respect families and authorities and the material possessions of other

people. In this regard, these ethical areas ensure that Christians live according to the biblical

teachings and commandments as the authority to tells Christians what to do and what they

should not do.

Believers face many conflicts when making daily choices due to the complex nature

and challenges of life. Among these conflicts include acknowledging God’s superiority and
loving neighbors and friends as we love ourselves. Indeed, Christian ethics are love-centered

towards both God and other people. However, people face situations everyday that challenge

their faithfulness to God by following His commandments and fulfilling our commitments to

fellow humans. For instance, people face temptations to seek their personal glory and

respecting other people’s property when they do not have enough material possessions to

cater for their needs. Additionally, believers experience the challenging of killing someone to

save others. These occurrences and conflicting situations require believers to handle everyday

moments through the guidance of biblical teachings.

Approach and Model that Best Represents the Christian Faith and Why

The virtue ethics is the model and approach that best represents the Christians. This

approach emphasizes people to live a life of moral character and to practice conduct and

behaviors that does not offend other people or cause them harm. In this regard, virtue ethics

require people to embrace character traits and ideal personality that make an individual

morally upright and virtuous. These traits arise from the way people naturally relate to one

another and are further supported by the biblical teachings. For instance, being kind, truthful,

generous, merciful, and considerate of other people influence people’s behavior to treat

others kindly and minimize behaviors that could damage the relationships between

individuals. From this perspective, this model best represents the Christian faith because it

focuses on living in a morally upright manner and in a way that reflects biblical teachings.

For instance, the proposals in virtue ethics largely mirror the commandments which are

authority and moral guide that directs the behavior, actions, and conduct of Christians.

Therefore, virtue ethics is the model that best represents Christian faith since its components

are founded on biblical teachings and commandments.
