C. Lesson Proper
 ACTIVITY
Before we proceed to our new topic, we
will have an activity first.

I have here a PowerPoint presentation.

You will be grouped into three. Each
slideshow contains a picture and
scrambled letters. Each group must
arrange the letters to form a word. The
first group who can raise their right
hand will be the first one who will
answer.

Before we proceed to our activity, are None, Sir!

did you observed?
It is all about music sir and notes.
Yes, Iver.

Very good! Let’s give Iver a Nanay

Donesia clap!

What are some things you

observed in our activity? About different kinds of symbols sir.

Yes, Jayson. You are raising your

hand.
No sir.
Do you have any ideas about notes
and rests, class?

 ABSTRACTION

In today’s lesson, we will identify

the different notes and rest. Sir, yes sir!

Are you ready class?

Mr. Joshua, can you please read Yes, sir. Notes and rests are musical
about notes and symbols in our symbols on a staff that designate
PPT? when to play and when to not play.

Okay, very good and thank you, Mr.

Joshua. You can have your sit.
(Pupils raising their hands.)
Next, let us read what are notes
and rests.

Notes on a staff represent what

Mr. Jonathan, kindly read what is a pitch to play and for how long. Rests
note and what is a rest. are musical symbols used to
designate when to pause and not
play.

Very good, Mr. Jonathan. You can

have your sit.

And now, let us proceed to different

kinds of notes and rests.

The different kinds of notes are:

1. WHOLE NOTE: a single note

equivalent to or lasting as long as
two half-notes or four quarter-notes
2. HALF NOTE- a note played for half
the duration of a whole note and
twice the duration of a quarter notes.
3. QUARTER NOTE: a note played for
one quarter of the duration of a
whole note. Quarter notes are
notated with a filled-in oval note
head and a straight, flagless stem.
4. EIGHTH NOTE- a musical note
played for one eighth the duration of
a whole note.
5. SIXTEENTH NOTE- a note played
for half the duration of an eighth
note (quaver), hence the names.

Next, we have the different kinds of

rest.
The first kind of rest is

1. WHOLE REST- a musical pause

that is the length of a whole note. In
a 4/4 time signature, a whole rest
tells the player to pause for the
whole bar.
2. HALF REST- denotes a silence of
the same duration. Half rests are
drawn as filled-in rectangles sitting
on top of the middle line of the
musical staff, although in polyphonic
music the rest may need to be
moved to a different line or even a
ledger line.
3. QUARTER REST- a musical rest
corresponding in time value to a
quarter note.
4. EIGHTH REST- A pause or rest in a
composition having the time
duration of one eighth of the time
duration of a whole rest.
5. SIXTEENTH REST- denotes a
silence for the same duration. As
with all notes with stems, sixteenth
notes are drawn with stems to the
right of the note head, facing up,
when they are below the middle line
of the musical staff (or on the middle
line, in vocal music).

For us a have a clear

understanding of what we’ve
discussed about notes and rests, I
have here a chart.
Did everyone understand the lesson?

Are there any questions or

clarifications? ss

Very good! If there’s none, let’s have a None, Sir!

will be called, “DRAW IT” I will group you
into three groups. Each group will draw
the different kinds of notes and rest and
name what kind of notes and rest it is.
You will present it in front of the class.

Okay, if there are none, let us start our None, Sir!

activity.

Very good, class. It seems to be that you

all really understand our lesson for (Pupils doing their activity)
today.

And now, let’s have a short quiz about

our topic. Prepare a ½ sheet crosswise
and answer our task for only 5min.

Now, pass all your papers. Do not stand;

pass it to the person in front of you.

And now, let us all stand. Goodbye and
