Questions
1) The top part of an air conditioning duct is in the form of a cylinder with an oblique
top. The diameter of the cylinder is 200mm, its short and long sides are 500mm and
600mm respectively. Develop the surface of the air conditioning duct using First
Angle Orthographic Projection. [20]
2) The highest part on the roof of a modern high rise building is in the form of a frustum
of a cone with an oblique top. This part is to be fabricated by means of welding a thin
sheet of mild steel. The base radius of the cone is 2000mm, the short and long slant
heights of the frustum are 1200mm and 1800mm respectively. The vertical height of
the cone is 3000mm. Develop the sheet of material required to fabricate this part of
the roof in Third Angle Orthographic Projection. [20]
3) Draw the development of the curved side of the frustum of the cone shown in Figure
below. Take JJ as the joint line for the development. [20marks]

4) A machine guard is fabricated in the form of a semi-cylinder. In other words, a
cylinder is cut into two halves from top to bottom. The height of the cylinder is
1900mm and the diameter is 750mm. Draw the development of the component.
[20 marks]
5) A pipe is made fusing a half circular and a half square in shape is cut as shown in the
following figure Question 3. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the
object. [20marks]

6) Develop the lateral surface of the cylinder of 40mm diameter and height of 60mm
which is cut in the following way shown in figure question 4. [20 marks]
