RUNNING THE INSTALLER
Run the Seismic_Source_Installer.exe to begin the initial install.
Click Install On This PC to setup the Seismic Source Installer at the default location.
The Installer can be setup on another drive using the menu at the bottom if desired.
The Installer will place desktop shortcuts on the desktop and start menu for quick access.
Once the Installer is setup. It will start itself up and you are ready install Seismic Source software.
If the Installer was exported, like on to a USB drive. It will instead first install the exported
products automatically.

INSTALLING A PROGRAM
The Seismic Source Installer allows automatic installation of Seismic Source software and has
tools for network setup.
Click the Install Products button to install new software.
The list of available software is organized by hardware products.
The software can also be listed in alphabetical order.
Click the A-Z Sorting switch to enable alphabetical sorting.

In the by-product sorting view, the software for each hardware product is grouped for easy
installation.
For the DAQlink 4 and Unode 2 systems, the Vscope3 software is normally all that is needed to
operate the systems.
Open the DAQlink, Unode2 section to view the software associated with those hardware products.
Select the software to install.
After selecting the software to install. Click the Install Products button at the bottom of the
window.

LEGACY PROGRAMS
Older editions of software can be found in the Legacy subsections for most product sections.
For example, many DAQlink users like the Vscope2 software.
Go to the DAQlink, Unode2 > Legacy section and select the Vscope2 program.
After selecting the products to install. Click the Install Products button at the bottom of the
window.
The selected products will be automatically downloaded and installed.
After the software have been successfully installed, a verification message will be displayed.
If any products could not be installed, they will be listed here.
Installed products will show up as tiles on the main menu. Which can be clicked to run and
manage the software using the left menu pane.

OPERATION
Once the desired products are installed. The main function of the Installer going forward will
managing and updating installed software.
This is mainly done by clicking the product tiles on the main menu and using the left menu pane.
Updates for installed products will automatically be shown on these tiles.
A single left-click on a product tile will show the details of the installed software and options for
managing it. The product’s version notes and available manuals can also be accessed.
Double clicking on a product tile will start the application in most cases.
Some of the products will not automatically start when double clicking the product tile. Instead, a
Windows Explorer dialog will open showing multiple executable programs. The Utilities product
is one example.
After double clicking the Utilities product tile, an Explorer window will appear showing its folder.
Double click any of the *.exe programs shown to start that application.
Warning: The programs in the Utilities product are for advanced users only.

UPDATES
When an update is available it will show on the main menu as an accent on the product’s tile.
Click the Update button on the tile to view the update.
A confirmation prompt will appear with the version notes.
To install the update, click Yes.

OLDER VERSIONS
Older versions of some software are also available for easy install.
Select an installed software and switch to the Manage tab on the left menu pane. Then select a
previous version to be loaded with the drop-down menu.
Click the Backdate to install the selected older version of the software.
Older versions can also be selected when first installing products.

NOTES
Version notes for installed products can be viewed within the Notes tab.
They can also be viewed when installing products by clicking the Notes button for a product.
The Notes panel at the bottom of the window will display the selected notes.

ETHERNET AND FIREWALL SETUP
The bottom left menu panel holds utility options for managing the Installer and host PC.
SETTING UP ETHERNET
Seismic Source hardware products need a setup ethernet port to be communicated with.
Click the Setup Ethernet button to test and setup ethernet ports.
The Installer will scan available ethernet ports and will list which are compatible with Seismic
Source products. Ports marked red cannot be used and must be configured. Ports marked orange
can be used but may be unreliable due to Power Saving being enabled. Ports marked green are
compatible and can be used reliably.
To setup an incompatible port, select one and click the Add Address button. This will add a default
compatible IP Address to that port.
After the ethernet port is setup, the port will show green. Unless the port has Power Saving
enabled. In which case, it should be disabled by clicking the Disable Power Saving button.

FIREWALL
The Windows Firewall may need to be disabled to operate Seismic Source products. If network
issues arise, it is recommended to try disabling the firewall.
Click the Disable Firewall button to automatically disable the Windows Firewall. The button can
also be clicked again to re-enable the firewall if desired.
DESKTOP SHORTCUTS
INSTALLER SHORTCUT
The Installer automatically makes a desktop shortcut for itself on first install. But it can be
regenerated if missing.
Click the Desktop Shortcut button in the top left to have the desktop shortcut remade.
REGENERATE ALL SHORTCUTS
Shortcuts are also made in the Seismic Source folder on the desktop for products when they are
installed.
But if they are missing, click the Regen Shortcuts button on the bottom left menu panel to
regenerate all shortcuts.

MANUALS
Manuals for Seismic Source software and associated hardware is included with most products.
The manual for the Boom Box 3 is found under the SourceLink software, and the manual for the
DAQlink 4 is found under the Vscope 2 software.
Select a product and click the Manuals button on the left menu pane.
This will open the manuals folder for that product where they can opened and read.
The DAQlink 4 hardware details can be found in the DAQlink 4 manuals in the Vscope 2 software
details.

EXPORTING SOFTWARE AND UPDATES TO USB STICK
EXPORT OFFLINE
The Seismic Source Installer can export itself and a selection of products for offline installation.
Which is very useful for distributing software and updates to offline PCs.
Click the Export Offline button in the bottom left menu panel. This will open a file explorer to
decide on an export directory.
To export to an external drive.
Click the C: button and select the USB drive (D: in this example).
If it is desired that the Installer be exported to a folder on the drive:
Click the Create Folder button to create a subdirectory (if it does not already exist).
If no folder is selected, the current directory will be the target.
After selecting the desired drive and subdirectory. Click the Select Current Folder button.
Now the specific products to export can be selected.

Check off each product that will be automatically installed when the exported Installer is run.
After selecting the desired products to transfer, click the Export Products To Install button.
The Installer will then download and export the necessary files to the target drive and directory.
This may take some time depending on the speed of the drive.
A verification message will appear when the software has finished exporting.

INSTALLING SOFTWARE OFFLINE
Insert the programmed USB.
Find the Seismic_Source_Installer.exe on the USB drive.
Double-click and run the Seismic Source Installer.
Click the Install On This PC button.
After the initial installation is complete, the Installer will run and begin automatically installing the
exported products and updates.
A verification message will appear when the process is complete.
