ROLE OF FACTORY MANAGER IN DISCIPLINARY ACTIVITIES
• Signing authority ( as per board resolution)
• Organising person for disciplinary activities
• Even though the disciplinary processes are carried on by HR, the ultimate
responsibilities lies with Factory Manager.
• Factory Manager is the Authorised signatory for issuance of any communication like
Show Cause Notice, Charge Sheet, suspension Pending enquiry etc.,
• Factory Manager is the Disciplinary Authority in the Factory
• To ensure Health, Safety and Welfare
• Liaison with Government authorities.
Safety
Factory manager to ensure either directly or through safety officer, the
following safety parameters
Employee safety * Regular safety training program
* issuance of relevant PPEs
* Emergency preparedness
Visitor safety * Safety induction to visitor
* Visitors are allowed only to the prescribed area
Machinery safety * Tools & tackles certification

HEALTH
Factory Manager to ensure either directly or through Medical Officer,
the following safety parameters

Annual Medical Check-up for specified positions in case of Hazardous
Industry or Dangerous Process. Every 6 months for Canteen workers.

Working condition
• Daily hours - 9 hours in a day
• Weekly hours - 48 hours in a week
• Spread over - 10.5 hours in a day
• Shift – overlapping of shift -
• Overtime - 50 hours in a quarter
• WEEKLY HOLIDAY - FIRST DAY OF WEEK OR any
person will have weekly holiday for a whole day 3 days immediately
before or after, if he worked on his weekly holiday. Provided that no
substitution shall be made which will result in any worker working for
more than ten days consecutively without a holiday for a whole day
• Earned leave - one day for every 20 working days
• Working condition of ladies - as applicable
• Employee compensation policy- as applicable
Role of factory manager in disputes resolving
• Signing authority of settlement
• He is the authorised person for appearing before commissioner of
labour
• Factory manager is the representing officer for ec before
commissioner of labour

Awards and punishments
When we talks about award, definitely there is other side of the coin
called punishment.
Can be handled by forming the grievance committee/works committee ,
posh committee, health and safety committee
Any anomaly / discrepancy in the compliances, factory manager is
holding the responsibility.
