W T E R C Y C L
is important to all life on earth for many reasons. All living organisms
require water and the water cycle describes the process of how water
moves through the planet.
W T R
is the basic element of nature. It covers 70% of the Earth’s surface. It
provides life, eases out heat, drains harmful substances and mediates
many day-to-day works. Water needs to be replenished, purified and
circulated again and again so that it can perform its functions. Nature
does this job through a process called water cycle. Also known as
hydrologic cycle, the water cycle is a phenomenon where water moves
through the three phases (gas, liquid, solid) over the four spheres
(atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere) and completes
a full cycle.
The water has many effects: it regulates the temperature of the
surroundings, changes weather and creates rain, helps in conversion
of rocks to soil, circulates important minerals through the spheres,
and also creates the many geographical features present on Earth
like the ice caps of mountains, icebergs, the rivers and the valleys,
lakes, and more. Hence, it is quite important to understand and learn the
main process of the water cycle.
Let's look at each of these stages.
E V P R T I N
This is when heat from the sun causes water from oceans, lakes, streams,
ice and soils to rise into the air and turn into water vapor (gas). Water
vapor droplets join together to make clouds.
C N D E N S T I N
This is when water vapor in the air cools down and turns back into liquid
water.
P R C P I T T I N
This is when water vapor in the air cools down and turns back into liquid
water.
T R N S P R A T O N
As water precipitates, some of it is absorbed by the soil. This water
enters into the process of transpiration. Transpiration is a process similar
to evaporation where liquid water is turned into water vapor by the
plants.
E. Discussing new concepts Use of Game “Unscramble Me!”
& practicing new skills #2 Directions: Arrange the jumbled letters to form a correct word.
(TERWA CLECY) 1. _______________ - a cycle of processes that all
water follows as it moves around Earth in different states
(VAEOPRATION) 2. ________________ - a process by which water
changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor
(NOCNEDSAIONT) 3. ________________ - a process by which water
vapor in the air is changed into liquid water
(REPCIPITAIONT) 4. _______________ - water released from clouds
in the form of rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, or hail
(TARNSPIRAIONT) 5. ________________ - the evaporation of water
through minute pores, or stomata in the leaves of plants
Use of Game “Let’s Classify!”
Directions: Classify the following importance of water cycle from the
given choices in the clouds and write them on your paper under proper
heading.
MAN PLANTS ANIMALS
F. Leads to Formative Differentiated Instruction
Assessment 3) Group Activity
GROUP 1 TEAM ARTS
Directions: Draw a poster showing the importance of water to cycle to
man, plants and animals.
GROUP 2 TEAM MUSIC
Directions: Compose a song showing the importance of water to cycle to
man, plants and animals.
GROUP 3 TEAM LITERARY ARTS
Directions: Make a short poem showing the importance of water to cycle
to man, plants and animals.
*Integration of Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao
*Infusion of Higher Order Thinking Skills
Valuing: (UNITY AND COOPERATION)
• Do you like our activity?
• Is our group activity easy?
• Why it became so easy?*HOTS
Integration to Mathematics*
Ask:
- How many stages were discussed in today’s lesson?
Integration to Current Events/Pandemic
Ask:
- What is the impact on water consumption during the pandemic?
G. Finding Practical Use of Game “FACT” or “BLUFF”
Applications of concepts Directions: Say FACT if the statement is correct and BLUFF if wrong.
and skills in daily living __________1. The water part of the Earth is called hydrosphere. FACT
__________ 2. Only 50 % of the water in the surrounding is fresh or
potable. BLUFF
__________ 3. Water cycle is a process in which water continuously
moved in the earth’s surface. FACT
__________ 4. Condensation means that water changes from a gas
(water vapor or steam) to liquid (water droplets) forming the clouds in
the sky. FACT
__________ 5. Collection is a process when the sun heats up water in
seas, rivers, lakes, ocean and ponds then turns it into water vapor or
steam and rises up into the air/atmosphere. BLUFF
Use of Game “Let’s Do This!”
Directions: Do and answer the following below.
- Choose and cut three pictures and mount it on a sheet of bond
paper.
- Study the pictures you mounted.
- Write at least three (3) importance of water cycle to man,
animals, and plants
H. Making Generalizations Use if Game “What Have You Learned Today?”
