Vascular Surgical Instruments
OPERATING, OR SURGICAL SCISSORS
are used to cut soft tissue. Their cutting blades may be
straight, curved, blunt, or pointed.
MAYO DISSECTING SCISSORS
used for tissue dissection by surgeons. They can be
used to cut tissues either near the surface or in deeper
surgical sites.
TUNGSTEN CARBIDE
is 5 times harder than stainless steel. Scissors with
tungsten carbide inserts along their blades last much
longer than stainless steel scissors. Tungsten carbide
scissors are especially good for cutting cartilage or for
many repeated cuts such as in necropsy studies.
METZENBAUM SCISSORS
are surgical scissors designed for cutting delicate tissue
and blunt dissection. The scissors come in variable lengths
and have a relatively high shank-to-blade ratio. They are
constructed of stainless steel and may have tungsten
carbide cutting surface inserts.
SUTURE WIRE CUTTING SCISSORS
used for cutting sutures in preparation for removal. They
are finger ring scissors that make it easy to use them.
HALSTED-MOSQUITO HEMOSTATS
are multipurpose forceps used to clamp off blood vessels,
remove small root tips and grasp loose objects. Hemostatic
Forceps also known as artery forceps are hinged and look
like ring scissors. These Forceps have locking mechanism
called a ratchet, which is used for clamping.
CRILE HEMOSTATIC
FORCEPS
contain a locking ratchet on the ring-handles and are
primarily used for momentarily stopping blood
flow in larger blood vessels of the body during general
surgeries. These forceps are offered in different lengths
as well as curved or straight style jaws.
ROCHESTER PEAN FORCEPS
are used to clamp bigger blood vessels during surgery to
prevent blood loss.
ROCHESTER-OCHSNER FORCEPS
are hemostats that are helpful for clamping off blood
vessels to avoid bleeding during procedures such as
orthopedic surgery.
MAYO HEGAR NEEDLE HOLDER
is used to drive curved needles during surgeries. It has a
broader jaw with a rounded tip. These needle holders have
straight and cross-serrated inserts which provide greater
precision during the suturing process. These needle holders
are available in different sizes and variations.
DRESSING FORCEPS
also known as thumb forceps or pickups, are surgical instruments
characterized by their long, thin handles and serrated tips. They
are typically used when dressing wounds where they hold gauze
and other dressings.
ALLIS TISSUE FORCEPS
are unique surgical tools used to hold and grip tissues and are
often known as Allis Clamps.
BABCOCK FORCEPS
are ratcheted, finger ring, and non-perforating forceps and are
widely used to grasp delicate tissues during surgical
procedures. They are commonly used in laparotomy and
intestinal procedures.
MIXTER HEMOSTATIC FORCEPS
are versatile surgery instruments used to clamp the blood
vessels and prevent blood loss.
RETRACTOR
typically describes a simple steel tool possessing a
curved, hooked, or angled blade, which is manually
manipulated to help maintain a desired position of
tissue during surgery.
