B. Spring Board/ Motivation


 The teacher will present about the game entitled “jumbled word”.
 The teacher will use the smart TV to elaborate the rules and regulation of the
game.
 The teacher will present the jumbled word.
 The teacher will pick random students in the class to arrange the jumbled word.
 The students will have 2 minutes to answer the given word.
 The students who get the correct words will get a prize (snacks).

 The teacher will define Special Education
- Special education is the practice of educating students in a way that accommodates
their individual differences, disabilities, and special needs. 
 The teacher will introduce the lesson: Physical Education for special education
students.
Physical education is a required component of special education, your child's general
and/or adapted physical education teacher should be included as a member of the IEP
team if the student is receiving specially designed physical education. Adapted physical
education is specially designed instruction provided to students who are unable to
participate in a regular physical education class, even with modifications,
accommodations or supplementary aids and services.

Disability

- A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more
difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation)
and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).

 The students will be asked to identify the types of disabilities.

1. Learning disabilities
- Are due to genetic and/or neurobiological factors that alter brain functioning in a
manner which affects one or more cognitive processes related to learning.
Types of Learning Disability
Dyscalculia
- A specific learning disability that affects a person’s ability to understand numbers and
learn math facts.
Dysgraphia
- A specific learning disability that affects a person’s handwriting ability and fine motor
skills.
Dyslexia
- A specific learning disability that affects reading and related language-based
processing skills.
Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities
- Has trouble interpreting nonverbal cues like facial expressions or body language and
may have poor coordination.
Oral / Written Language Disorder and Specific Reading
- Comprehension Deficit Learning disabilities that affect an individual’s understanding
of what they read or of spoken language.

2. Physical Disability
- Indicates any physical limitations or disabilities that inhibit the physical function of
one or more limbs of a certain person. It can be temporary or permanent.
3. Speech or Language Impairment
- a communication disorder, such as stuttering, impaired articulation, a language
impairment, or a voice impairment, that adversely affects a child's educational
performance.

4. Psychosocial disability
- arises when someone with a mental health condition interacts with a social
environment that presents barriers to their equality with others.

5. Orthopedic Disability
- It is a severe orthopedic impairment that adversely affects a child's educational
performance. Orthopedic impairment involves physical disabilities which affects the
academic process.
3 Types of Orthopedic Impairment
Neuromotor Impairments
- are caused by damage to different parts of the nervous system.

Degenerative Diseases
- are condition that worsen over time.

Musculoskeletal Disorder
- are conditions in which components of musculoskeletal system are damaged.

6. Intellectual Disability
- An intellectual disability is a neurodevelopmental condition that develops in
childhood. People with this condition experience significant limitations with
intellectual functioning and developing adaptive skills like social and life skills.

- a cognitive or psychological condition that limits a major life activity in some way or
requires special services.

8. Hearing impairment
- is the inability of an individual to hear sounds adequately. This may be due to
improper development, damage or disease to any part of the hearing mechanism.
9. Visual impairment
- is defined as a decreased ability to see to a degree that causes problems not fixable by
usual means, such as glasses or medication.

 The teacher will define adapted physical education.

Adapted Physical Education
- Adapted Physical Education also known as Specially designed instruction, designed on
an individual basis to meet the needs of a child with disability.
- Adapted physical education involves PE games and activities that have been modified
to accommodate students with disabilities.

Benefits of Physical Education for Student with Special Needs


- Exercise can provide significant benefits for children in all of the developmental
stages of life. It only makes sense, then, that regular participation in physical education
classes would also promote positive advancements in students with special needs.

 The teacher will discuss the following P.E activities, games and modification
strategies are great for groups of students with varying needs and abilities.

Activity: Dance Warm-Up


- Students can warm up together for P.E class by moving their bodies to music.

- Students of all abilities can work in pairs to navigate an obstacle course.

Activity: Cultivate Mindfulness


- P.E teachers know that mindfulness plays an important role in physical education, and
it can also have a positive effect on students’ academics as well as their moods and
self-confidence.

Game: Life-Sized Chutes and Ladders
- This game requires a fair amount of equipment and setup, it’s fun for players of all
ages and abilities, and a great choice for giving students practice in taking turns while
developing their fitness skills.

Game: Balloon Polo


- Students can use pool noodles to tap balloons, keeping them aloft in the air.

Game: Basketball
- The skills taught in the activity can help those with disabilities to stay active and
hopefully become stronger through an enjoyable activity.

Game: Soccer
- Adapting classic team sports like soccer involves making simple shifts, such as having
students walk or wheel instead of run; reducing the size of the playing field and clearly
delineating boundaries; and using a larger, softer or lighter-weight ball instead of a
traditional soccer ball.

Game: Bowling
- Adapted bowling is fun and easy for students of all abilities, and it’s simple to set up.

 The teacher will comprehensively discuss the general adaptive strategies.

General Adaptive Strategies
- Students with many types of disabilities benefit from knowing what to expect,
including what the rules and expectations are, what types of activities they will be
doing, what types of noises they will hear and make, and when all of these will occur.
- Enrichment activities are activities that provide stimulating and challenging
experiences that foster growth, learning, and creativity beyond what is provided in a
typical curriculum or routine. These types of activities help students develop critical
thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

D. Enrichment Activities/ Formative Assessment/ Collaborative Activities


- Interviews – As a class, come up with some questions to help learn about others.
Divide the class into pairs and let them interview each other, recording the answers on
their paper.
 The teacher will ask the students three open-ended questions to determine if they have
learned and understand the lesson.

E. Generalization
 The teacher will use power point to show following questions and asked the students
to generalize the things they have learned about the lesson.
