Persuasive Text- It is a type of text which convinces or persuades readers to agree
with the writer’s opinion with the use of logic, reason, or emotion.
The primary goal of persuasive text is to influence the reader's perspective on a
particular topic or issue. It is commonly used in advertising, marketing, speeches, and
debates.
Features of Persuasive Text
1. Rhetorical Question- It is a question that does not require a direct answer. It is usually
intended to start a discourse or discussion.
Basically, rhetorical questions don't demand an explicit answer, however they can be a
powerful tool for conveying ideas, evoking emotions, and initiating meaningful
discussions.
2. Opinion- A writer’s view about something which is often introduce by “I think” and “I
believe”, etc.
It is a form of expression where a writer shares their personal viewpoint or perspective
on a particular subject.
3. Expert Opinion- A judgement about something given by an expert on the subject.
An expert opinion is a judgment or evaluation provided by a knowledgeable and
experienced individual in a particular field. It is highly regarded due to the expert's
qualifications and expertise.
4. Direct Address- Speaking directly to the reader through noun or the pronoun “you”. It
gets more focused attention from the reader.
The speaker aims to capture the reader's undivided attention and establish a personal
connection. This technique creates a more immediate and engaging tone, as it invites
the reader to actively participate in the discourse.
5. Repetition of Words and Phrases- It help to emphasize key points and become
memorable.
By repeating specific words or phrases, the speaker or writer can draw attention and
reinforce important ideas. This technique can enhance understanding, evoke emotions,
and leave a lasting impact on the audience, making the message more persuasive and
memorable.
6. Triples- It made up of three standard unit of item.
Triples add a rhythmic quality to the language, making the message more memorable
and impactful for the audience.
7. Fact- A piece of information that is proven to be true and is used as evidence.
Facts are objective and based on empirical evidence or logical reasoning, making them
distinct from opinions or subjective interpretations
8. Statistics- A collection of quantitative data which are usually represented by
percentage.
They are commonly presented in the form of percentages, proportions, averages, or
other statistical measures.
9. Imperative- A sentence used to demand the readers to act or to do something about
the issue.
They convey a sense of urgency and assertiveness, aiming to motivate or persuade
individuals to address a particular issue.
