_______2. The pen block controls the sound and MIDI functions.
_______3. The languages are the lists of blocks for programming your sprites.
_______4. The stage is where you see your stories, games and animations to life.
_______5. The Green Flag provides a convenient way to start many scripts at the same time.
_______6. The Presentation mode button is used when you present the finish project.
_______7. The hardware of the computer is composed of all its external parts.
_______8. The make a variable is a block from variables that allows you to create and name a new variable.
_______9. The Control Unit manages all the functions of computer system.
_______10. Ram is a volatile memory that loses all the data when the computer is turned off.
_______11. Programming gives an operating instruction to the computer.
_______12. CPU is found within the hard drive of the computer.
_______13. The Stack block displays thumbnails for all sprites in a project.
_______14. The motion block controls the sprites movement.
_______15. The #costume of the looks block change the sprites appearance by switching to different costume.
II. MATCHING TYPE. Match the words in column A to their corresponding description in column B. Write
the letter of your answer on the space provided. (15 pts.)
A B
___1. CPU a. The device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting or an
object and converts it to a digital image.
___2. Scanner
b. It is the brain of the computer where most calculations take place.
___3. Speaker c. It checks to see if a statement is true.
d. This is the area where you piece blocks together to “write” code.
___4. Boolean Logic
e. It is basically an instruction recipe, which tells your Sprites what to do.
___5. Conditional f. It is a simple image editing environment that allows us to apply text, color and
shape to our sprites.
Statement
g. An action in the program that prompts another part of the program to take
___6. Microphone an action.
h. It provides real-time input into the Scratch program in order to manipulate
___7. Monitor
the sprite in some way.
___8. Events i. A device that converts analog audio signals into the equivalent air vibrations
in order to make audible sound.
___9. Dynamic
j. It includes and, or and not in the programming.
Interaction k. This is where all of the buttons, or “blocks” that you can use to piece
together on the code screen.
___10. Stage
l. The device that captures audio by converting sound waves into an electrical
___11. Paint Editor signal.
m. This is where you can see your game, or progress on your game played out.
___12. Code Screen
It shows your background, as well as all your Sprites.
___13. Code n. They are picked from the range that we specify in a program.
o. The device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and
___14. Button Screen
transfers the information on paper.
___15. Random Numbers
III. ENUMERATION. Enumerate at least five (5) commands inside the Motion Block. (5 pts)
1. 4.
2. 5.
3.
IV. Sort the following numbers from the lowest to highest, use the Algorithm step in arranging the
numbers. (10pts)
COMPUTER EDUC 9|PAGE 1
Clue: Always start with first two numbers.
[ 4, 3, 5, 2, 1 ]
[ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ] [ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ]
.
[ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ] [ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ]
[ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ] [ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ]
[ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ] [ __ , __ , __ , __ , __ ]
V. ALGORITHM. Follow the instructions in this algorithm and write your answer on the space provided.
(15pts)
Algorithm Steps:
a. Draw a rectangle.
b. From the center of the rectangle's uppermost longer side,
draw a straight line upwards perpendicular to the rectangle.
This straight line should be the same length as the longer
side of the rectangle.
c. Draw a right-angled triangle on the right handside of the
perpendicular line.
d. Draw another triangle on the left hand-side of the
perpendicular line.
e. This triangle should be a mirror image of the triangle
drawn in step 3.
f. On the top of the page, draw three stars.
VI. HANDS-ON EXAM. Conditional Sprites. (50 pts)
Note: Additional instruction will be given during exam.
Note:
You will start with two (2) sprites with
random movements.
When the two sprites collide with each
other it will create another sprite.
The three (3) will continue their random
movements, and when in collision they will
again create another sprite.
Minimum of 10 sprites, having random
movements.
