STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
INTRODUCTION
I am filled with pleasure and gratitude to present my statement manifesting my intentions and plans
to pursue higher studies in Australia. I am Gurteen Kaur, born on 24 th November 2001, and an
Indian citizen holding passport number W3055236.
REASON TO STUDY MASTER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
In today's time, everything is dependent on technology. Technology and the internet have
transformed every aspect of our lives, from how we communicate and work to how we learn and
entertain ourselves. The technology required to run every task for this new development is
developed by the IT sector. And with greater dependence on machines for every physical job,
developers and programmers will be in high demand for years to come. It is truly an exciting time to
be a part of this ever-growing industry. The fast-paced nature of the IT industry requires
professionals to keep up with emerging technologies and industry trends. This realization led me to
consider pursuing a master’s degree in information technology from Australia. where I gained a deep
understanding of programming languages, data structures, and algorithms. As a highly motivated
individual with a strong passion for technology, I am confident that this program will help me
achieve my career aspirations.
REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING HOME COUNTRY
After completing my Bachelor of Computer Science, it was a crucial time for me to decide my career
pathway. As I had done my last studies in Bachelor of Computer Science stream, so I was searching
for study options in same stream in my home country India. I also discussed and took career
counselling from my teachers about which post- graduation program should I pursue and from
which educational institution. Then, one of my teachers suggested me to attend few educational
seminars where I came to know about international education and how it can enable a person to
achieve holistic growth and provide global exposure.
Some of the other reasons for not choosing India are-
• Seat quota system based on caste.
• Limited intake options (only one intake per year).
• Lack of infrastructure and latest technology.
• Missing global recognition for most of the courses.
• Not appropriate curriculum.
So, after considering all the above-mentioned factors, I have decided not to pursue my further
education from India.
REASONS FOR CHOOSING AUSTRALIA
I choose Australia as it is ranked third in terms of number of international students in the world
only behind UK and USA. Australia has a very less population of around 24 million, still it is a
developed country showing the level of excellence of government and citizens possess.
Australian education is known for its brilliance in the world as it occupies good approach to its
vocational, practical and technical education Australia is also known for adopting the new edge
technologies at higher pace and has an international reputation for excellence in all round
development of the student with its practical based scenario. Most courses and training
undertaken by international students in Australia are covered by Australian Qualification
Framework (AQF). It is a system of learning which is authorized by the Australian government.
Australia's national quality assurance system is unique both in its structure and its rigor.
International students, and even their parents, enjoy an unparalleled level of service and financial
protection.
REASONS FOR CHOOSING LA TROBE UNIVERSITY
I am drawn to La Trobe University because of its reputation for providing a rigorous and
comprehensive curriculum that prepares students to succeed in the IT industry. The program's
focus on topics such as cyber security, data analytics, and cloud computing aligns with my
interests, and I am excited to delve deeper into these areas. I am impressed by the faculty
members' research in cutting-edge technologies, which I believe will provide me with valuable
insights and exposure to the latest advancements in the field. Through this program, I hope to
gain a deeper understanding of the technologies driving the industry and learn how to apply them
to create innovative and scalable solutions. La Trobe University is one of the top universities in
Australia due to its highly competitive, experienced faculty and staff, it assures delivering quality
education to its students. Lectures are supported by workshops, tutorials and seminars which
involve group discussions .Students are assessed through course work, group projects and
individual examinations, which help students adapt to the delivery and assessment methods they
will experience at university. Students have access to a range of support services designed to
help them to achieve their goals. Apart from academics, the university also offers an amazing
campus life to the students with a broad range of co-curricular activities.
FUTURE GROWTH AND CAREER PLANS
Upon completing my master’s degree, I plan to return to India and use the knowledge and skills I
have acquired to contribute to the growth and development of the Indian technology industry. I
aim to leverage my education and experience to advance my career and take on more
challenging roles that require a deeper understanding of emerging technologies and their
applications. My greatest ambition in life is to work in MAANG also known as Meta, Amazon,
Apple, Netflix, Google which is not possible only with bachelor’s degree as technology is
advancing day by day but in these startup companies there will be no new things to learn at a
certain point. I want to make sure that I am update with the latest trends in technology which will
ensure my place in MAANG. In any of these companies I believe I can explore various career
paths such as software development, database administration, IT project management, cyber
security, business analyst and data analyst and I can get INR 10-12 lakhs as base salary along
with the other compensations and stocks.
INCENTIVES TO RETURN BACK TO INDIA
I have my family well settled in India with number of investments, agricultural land and
properties, so being a legal heir; I also must look after, as my parents are turning old. This is my
outmost preference to give them back my earnings in India and reduce their burden by helping
with the monetary gain which is quite satisfactory in my country as well. Life without society and
friends is dull and I don’t want to be deviated from my roots. I don’t find any strong reason to stay
in Australia as I will not be able to enjoy the society traditions, not able to meet with my childhood
friends. I will have a very good future in India in this industry due to a lot of companies that pay
high salaries to professionals with international degrees, which is a very strong reason for which I
want to come back to India and develop my career here.
