exporters and local shops. Yarn and Gray both source their materials in the same way.

External Environment Analysis:
Gul Ahmed is a Pakistani textile company that operates in a highly competitive industry. An
analysis of the company's external environment would include an examination of the following
factors:
1. Political factors: The company operates in a politically stable environment, but changes in
government policies related to taxation, trade, and labor laws can have an impact on its
operations.
2. Economic factors: The textile industry is highly dependent on economic conditions, such
as inflation, interest rates, and consumer spending. Changes in these factors can affect the
demand for textile products and the profitability of the company.
3. Social factors: The company must be aware of changing consumer preferences and trends
in fashion, as well as cultural and social norms that could impact its products.
4. Technological factors: Innovations in technology can have a significant impact on the
textile industry, such as the development of new materials, manufacturing processes, and
digital platforms for marketing and sales.
5. Environmental factors: Sustainability and environmental concerns are becoming
increasingly important in the textile industry, and companies such as Gul Ahmed must be aware
of these issues and take steps to address them.
6. Legal factors: The company must comply with regulations related to labor laws,
environmental protection, and intellectual property rights, among others.
By analyzing these external factors, Gul Ahmed can develop strategies to capitalize on
opportunities and mitigate potential threats in the marketplace.
7
Market Analysis:
• Industry Analysis
The sector of textile production includes Gul Ahmed Textile Mills. With several businesses
occupying the same sector, the market is highly competitive and fragmented. Due to cost
increases and a cutthroat worldwide market, Pakistan's textile sector, which is predominantly
export-oriented, has been struggling. The success of the industry may be greatly influenced by
variables including raw material costs, exchange rates, labor expenses, and governmental
regulations.
• Competitive Analysis
Several local and foreign businesses in the textile sector compete with Gul Ahmed Textile
Mills. Nishat Mills, Sapphire Textile Mills, and Kohinoor Textile Mills are a few of the
company's main rivals. The company's broad distribution network, solid brand recognition, and
varied product offering are among its advantages. The business must contend with growing
competition, rising raw material costs, and shifting consumer tastes.
• Customer Analysis
Both domestic and foreign consumers are catered to by Gul Ahmed Textile Mills. Customers
of the business include distributors, retailers, and private individuals. The firm sells
accessories, household textiles, and fabrics for clothing. The majority of the company's target
market consists of middle- and upper-class clients who are prepared to spend more for high-
quality goods.
• Swot Analysis
The strong brand name, large distribution network, and diverse product selection of Gul Ahmed
Textile Mills are only a few of its significant advantages. Rising raw material costs, fierce
rivalry, and changing consumer tastes provide difficulties for the business. The firm may have
possibilities to increase operational effectiveness, diversify its product offerings, and enter new
markets. Threats to the business might include alterations in governmental legislation, shifting
consumer tastes, and changes in global economic conditions.
8
• Market Strategy
Gul Ahmed Textile Mills might concentrate on creating a distinctive brand identity and
spending money on marketing and advertising initiatives to raise brand recognition. To grow
its clientele and boost sales, the business might also investigate fresh marketplaces and product
categories. In order to stay competitive in the market, the corporation should also concentrate
on enhancing operational effectiveness and cutting expenses.
Internal Analysis:
• Financial Performance
Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited has continuously maintained outstanding financial
performance and sales growth throughout the years. However, its net profit margins have been
shifting in recent years, indicating possible cost management difficulties. Its liquidity
measures, such as the current and quick ratios, look to be in good shape, reflecting the
company's capacity to cover its short-term commitments.
• Resources
Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited is able to effectively manage its resources thanks to a well-
established supply chain that consists of many production sites and warehouses. Intangible
assets such as the company's solid brand reputation and its devoted client base can be quite
beneficial. Due to its reliance on imported cotton, the firm may experience difficulties locating
high-quality raw materials for its manufacturing procedures.
• Capabilities
In terms of production, promotion, and distribution, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited excels.
A variety of textile, apparel, and home décor goods are among the company's many product
offerings. Along with expanding into overseas markets, it also has a strong distribution network
within Pakistan.
9
• Core Competencies
The vertically integrated supply chain, which enables Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited to
manage the production processes from start to end, and a solid brand reputation are among the
company's fundamental capabilities. To remain abreast of the newest textile technology and
trends, the firm also makes significant investments in research and development.
• Organizational Structure and Culture
The organizational structure of the corporation seems to be well-defined, with distinct lines
separating various roles and sources of authority. The company's culture places a strong
emphasis on innovation, quality, and client happiness, which is evident in the company's goods
and services.
Financial Growth and challenges:
Financial Growth:
• Growth in Revenue: Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited has seen a consistent rise in its
revenue over time. Home textiles, clothing fabrics, and other textile items are now part
of the company's expanding product line and operational diversification. The
company's sales and profitability have increased as a result of this.
• Global Operations: Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited has also increased its reach
internationally. In addition to the USA, Canada, UK, and Europe, the corporation
exports its goods to a number of other nations. With less reliance on the local market,
the corporation has been able to boost revenue.
• Cost Reduction: Reduced expenses were recently put in place by the business,
including bettering the effectiveness of its supply chain, production process
optimization, and energy usage reduction. The company's profitability has increased,
and expenditures have been cut, thanks to their efforts.
• Product Diversification: The company diversify its portfolio into different into
product such as bed linen, towels, and other home textiles. It helps the company to
increase its revenue and profitability.
10
• Brand Recognition: The business enjoys a solid reputation and brand image in the
textile sector. Employing this brand trust, the business has been able to improve its
market penetration and increase its product line.
Challenges:
• Prices of raw materials: Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited encounters difficulties
locating raw materials at reasonable rates. Cotton, the main raw material used in the
textile industry, has a volatile price. The business's profitability is impacted by this.
• Competition: With numerous companies on the market, the textile sector is quite
competitive. Both domestic and foreign players compete with Gul Ahmed Textile Mills
Limited. It becomes difficult for the business to sustain its market share and profitability
as a result.
• Technological Advancements: The textile sector is seeing fast technological
advances. To remain competitive in the market, the organization must keep up with
these advances. This necessitates substantial expenditure in research and development,
which might have an impact on the company's profitability.
• Supply Chain Disruption: The textile industry face challenge of supply chain
disruption such as natural disasters, transportation issue and trade restriction. These
challenges affect the company production capacity and also affect its revenue and
profitability.

6. fully vertically integrated firm fiber to 6. no customization for their home products
fashion
Strengths: The ideas are become the strong brand name because it carries its parent brand
name (Gul Ahmed), people trust the gul ahmed for their quality, color, and designs they are
offering to their customers. they have created the positive image of their in the customer’s
mind, it is the fact if the customers are going to buy the households from Gul ahmed, they will
also try the ideas which is the product range is again offered by the Gul Ahmed.
12
Another strong point of Gul ahmed is they are not having the more competitors on the basis on
one shop stop, this is the strong point and it is also liked by the customers because it will be
convenient for the them to buy all the household stuff from a single store.
Opportunities Threats
Lawn demand is growing day by day variation in foreign exchange
Online shopping Political instability
Selected cities for the week’s campaigns Competitor threat in market (nishat
such as fashion related. linen)
Another opportunity to invest in cosmetic Not huge share in export market
market
Weaknesses:
The weak point of Gul Ahmed is that they decline in home sales because of having the
inefficient marketing strategy. They are not selling as much as their home products, as many
of people are not aware about their home textile products and this is because they are not good
at targeting their potential customers. in home appliances, they are not providing the
customization for their home products, so this can be the major negative aspect for the
customers who want to personalize their home products and decorate the home according to
their choice and preferences.
Another weak point of Gul Ahmed is that they are having the limited variety in kids portion,
and the designs is provided in kids portion are so boring, and not kids by parents and kids as
well.
Opportunities: The major opportunities for the brand are that they can expand their business
into different cities (locally) as well as internationally. Same opportunity is for the Gul Ahmed,
there are the so many cities which are still unexplored, and so it will be best opportunity for
Gul Ahmed to expand the business in different cities in Pakistan, and for the awareness they
can participate in business festivals as well, where they can put their displays and stalls. Apart
for this they are the huge opportunities for them to setup their stores internationally, for they
need to consider opening their store in the right market, where they can easily get their potential
customers who like to shop from the brand.
13
They also have the opportunity to invest into cosmetic market, as it is considered as the reliable
brand because of its parent brand Gul Ahmed hold the good name in the market. so offering
cosmetics it will be successful the reason why I am mentioning here the cosmetic because
already they are providing the perfume range so making a complete range of cosmetics would
help them.
Threats: the main threat that any business have is the political instability such as strikes, riots
and other instabilities which are increasing day by day, it not only affects the business sales but
also harm the outlets as well.
another threat for the company can be your competitors here if we talk about on the basis of
one shop stop, so Gul Ahmed’s competitor on the basis of ne shop stop is Chenone it is famous
for their grand sales and discounts which they offer to their potential customers, so the chenone
here can be the biggest threat for The Gul Ahmed because they have established their name in
the market selling almost all the households at one shop, but Gul Ahmed is declining in home
sale, due to inefficient marketing strategy, they are not good at targeting their potential
customers and not selling as many products as they would like.
Identification of issues:
1. Sustainability: Gul Ahmed is committed to ensuring sustainability practices that
contribute to a greener society for upcoming generations. Some of the sustainability
practices are, liquid effluent, gaseous emissions, and solid waste.
Even though Gul Ahmed is committed to sustainable practices, but whatever the
contribution they are doing for the welfare, their customers are not as much aware about
that practice as they should be. so this one is the current and major issue of Gul ahmed
that the people are not much more aware about their green practices.
2. Competition: as we know that there is high competition in the textile industries, so
to stay ahead of the competition Gul Ahmed should bring the Innovation and
improvement in their products, here two words are mentioned innovation and
improvements, which does not only related to changes in the products/ services but
it is related to their marketing strategies as well. The major issues is that the Gul
Ahmed is not doing the effective promoting (Gul Ahmed’s promoting isn't as
successful as compare to its competitors such as Khaadi, Sana Safinaz).
14
3. Technological issue
• Automation: Textile industry is highly competitive in the market so to
remain in the competition we should adopt the trend/ changes which are
being followed by our competitors, and if we talk about the automation
technology, it is necessary for the industry to invest in the automation
technology for increasing the efficiency and reducing the cost. But Gul
Ahmed is not investing in it.
• Sustainable technology: as there is the growing trend green practices
which is being followed by textile industries, so there is increase in the
demand for sustainable textiles. Currently Gul Ahmed is investing in the
sustainable green practices, such as recycled material, gaseous emission,
solid waste etc. but if we compare some of these practices along with the
international brands, so they will be counted as the negligible so the
textile industries need to invest in sustainable technologies.
• Digitalization: As worldwide the e-commerce and online shopping trend
increasing day by day, so the textile companies must have the online
platform and strong presence on it. And Gul Ahmed is not currently
investing in such kind of technologies, so this brand should start
investing in it for reaching out more customers.
4. Changes in consumers preferences: we already know that there is huge
competition among the textile industries, so whenever the new entrant enters in the
markets and bring some innovative and more better products in the market, then
suddenly customers preferences changes with respect to time, if we talk about the
following trends which Are being followed by gul ahmed, then no doubt they are
bringing such kind of products with which they can satisfy the customers, but if we
look at the competitors of gul ahmed like sapphire, nishat, they are following the
better than the gul ahmed, because gul ahmed is having the sale almost full of the
year and their products designing is same, no changes in it, where as sapphire and
nishat are having only seasonal sale in the market, let me share here the one
example, gul ahmed is almost having the sales online as well in stores, and sapphire
15
is announcing the seasonal sale like eid sale, then most of the customers are liking
the sapphire and purchasing products from the sapphire, rather than Gul Ahmed,
even though gul ahmed sale is live every time. The reason behind it is that, the
sapphire is bringing the changes in its products like designing, stitching etc, that’s
why people are liking the more sapphire as compare to Gul Ahmed, so this is main
issue that Gul Ahmed should keep up brining the changes, to stay in side by side
fashion trends.
5. Brand management: Gul ahmed is having the popular names in the textile industry
no doubt, but gul ahmed is lacking in maintaining and enhancing the brand name,
the reason is that they are not using the effective marketing and campaign for the
products. on the other hand the competitors like sana safinaz a nishat linen they are
absolutely doing the effective marketing of each and every product category and
the customers are well aware about their every product category, and Gul ahmed is
lacking not using the effective marketing strategies campaigns
Ethical issues of Gul Ahmed:
Ethical issues: Some of the ethical issues of Gul Ahmed which are given below.
1. Governance: the major governance issue which was being faced by Gul Ahmed in
2018, where the Pakistan stock exchange charged/ fined the company because The
Company was not actually disclosing the financial statements transactions regulations
+ they refuse to comply with rules and regulation. In 2020, another issue raised in the
response of concerns which was raised by stakeholders, the company has faced the issue
related to its board composition in which the securities and exchange commission of
Pakistan coordinated the company to delegate a free director to its board to make certain
compliances with the government regulations.
2. Social responsibility: Gul Ahmed as a textile industry has a social responsibility to
manufacture the high excellence products but they have to contribute to the well-being
as well, so there are some social issues while contributing to the well-being, which were
being faced by Gul Ahmed.
16
• Labor practices: it is the responsibility of a company to provide its workers
fair salary, healthy and safe atmosphere along with the practical working
hours. But Gul Ahmed faced the criticism in the past for not meeting these
essential standards of being a socially responsible organization.
• Ethical sourcing: The Company must have to ensure about its raw material,
whatever they are using the raw materials it must be sourced ethically, Such
as ensuring that the suppliers must meet ethical principles in their operations
such as avoiding child labor, providing fair wages, and safe and sound
working conditions.
3. Sustainability: Gul Ahmed has a accountability to reduce the impact of its textile
industry on the environment because the textile industry is distinguished for its
significant environmental impact. And it can be achieved by reducing the greenhouse
gasses, waste, enhancing energy efficiency.
Strategic options of Gul Ahmed:
As a large textile industry in Pakistan, Gul Ahmed has several strategic options available to it.
Here are a few examples:
1. Diversification: Gul Ahmed could consider diversifying its product line to reach new
markets or expand its customer base. For example, it could enter the home decor market by
producing curtains, bedspreads, and other furnishings.
2. Geographic Expansion: Gul Ahmed could consider expanding its geographic reach by
opening new stores or partnering with retailers in new regions. This could help the company
tap into new customer segments and increase its overall revenue.
3. Innovation: Gul Ahmed could focus on innovation by investing in new technology or
research and development. This could lead to new products, improved manufacturing
processes, and increased efficiency and productivity.
17
4. Cost Optimization: Gul Ahmed could focus on optimizing costs by streamlining its
operations and supply chain, reducing waste, and improving efficiency. This could help the
company remain competitive and increase profitability.
5. Sustainability: Gul Ahmed could consider making sustainability a core part of its business
strategy by focusing on environmentally friendly materials, reducing its carbon footprint, and
implementing ethical labor practices. This could help the company attract environmentally and
socially conscious consumers and investors.
Recommendation:

setting standards for product safety and environmental performance, or restricting market
entry through licensing or other barriers. I can.
▪ Gul Ahmed also needs to focus on culture of continuous improvement by encouraging
employees to identify and report technology issues and opportunities for improvement.
Establish systems to track and troubleshoot technology issues, provide incentives for
employees to identify areas for improvement, and invest in ongoing education and
training to keep up to date with new technology trends and best practices. Keep up with
practice.
