eLibrary - Library Management System - VB.Net + SQL Server
Abstract:
Today most of the library is using either manual system for tracking the day to day activity or
they are using desktop, spread sheet like MS Excel application to manage the day to day activity. In
this proposed Library Management System it will run in client server mode and user can check the
book availability, they can search the books, library staff can issue, receive book, and management
can check the report. System will store historical data. Management can anytime view the total book
status, library card status. The eLibrary Management System is used to overcome the entire problem
which they are facing currently, and making complete atomization of manual or semi automatic
process of library management system. This project of “LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” of
gives us the complete information about the library. We can enter the record of new books and
retrieve the details of books available in the library. We can issue the books to the students and
maintain their records and can also check how many books are issued and stock available in the
library.
Throughout the project the focus has been on presenting information and comments in an
easy and intelligible manner. The project is very useful for those who want to know about Library
Management System. eLibrary - Library management System is a very simple, flexible and user-
friendly Library Management software specially for INDIA, that takes care of all your requirements
relating to managing huge library . eLibrary stores complete records of the books, members, creates
library card, mange transaction, Computes late fine, search books and generate MIS reports..
Scope and Features
There will be three major components: 1. Book maintenance. 2. Transaction entry.3. Reports.
Proposed system provides with following solutions:
1. It provides "better and efficient" service to members.
2. Reduce the workload of employee.
3. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book.
4. Provide facility for proper monitoring reduce paper work and provide data security.
5. All details will be available on a click

User Master, Member Master, Book Master, Author, Publisher, Search Book, Search Member,
Create and Print Library Card. Issuing and Receiving Books, Calculate Late Fees, Library Card.
Reports., etc.

RAM : 1 GB or Greater.
Limitations of the Software:
This project was developed to fulfill user requirement; however there are lots of scope to
improve the performance of the eLibrary System in the area of user interface, database performance,
and query processing time. Etc.
Future Enhancements:
Linking and integration of other system for student database.
Addition of bar code reader for easy entry of books
Sending email and SMS for alert and notification
