It’s easy for the print shop manager to monitor collected
information on jobs and their current production status.
This enables him to plan his next steps without having to
make inquiries or checks. It’s even easier to analyze infor-

module graphically displays the status of all connected
machines and equipment. It also generates job reports
with machine data from the last 15,000 jobs.
Office staff have access to all relevant information in real

Integration System is part of Heidelberg’s integrated
workflow management system, Prinect. Derived from the
words “print” and “connect, “Prinect” describes an intel-
ligent workflow management system covering all print
shop operations and processes. Prinect is a consistent,
modular system. You can easily customize it to meet your
particular needs and flexibly extend it as they grow.
We take responsibility – with everything from a single
source, for a good reason. Heidelberg designs all Prinect
components to harmonize perfectly with one another.
This is ensured by a stringent upgrade process and com-
prehensive testing of every product supplied to ensure
that they fit smoothly and seamlessly. This lets us ensure
the reliable function of each and every product and the
complete workflow chain during their entire life cycle.
Without par in the printing industry, this reliability safe-
guards your investment and lets you calculate the total
operating cost.
JDF – the data format for your workflow
How do you digitally network different production areas?
For successful integration, all areas must be able to com-
municate with one another. The common language they
use for this is Job Definition Format (JDF). This industry
standard is an open format that brings together all of the
data formats that have so far been used in the production
process. It is the basis for generating digital job tickets
containing all job data. JDF enables Management
Information Systems (MIS) to communicate with all
production stations along the process chain – thus per-
mitting seamless exchange of information.

A modular, open system
Since every printshop has its own specific and individual needs, Prinect is not
designed as a standard product but rather as a modular solution. This means
that smaller printshops can also capitalize on the benefits of networking. Starting
with a single Prinect module, Prinect components can be added at any time and
the workflow can be customized to meet the requirements of the printshop. All the
components are based on open data standards such as PDF, PPF and JDF and can
be integrated into your existing system landscape.
