Q.1 Find the magnetic field due to a long straight wire (Infinite) using Biot-Savart law.
Q.2 Find the magnetic field a distance s from a long straight wire (Fig.) carrying a steady
current I (using Ampere's law).

Q.3 Find the magnetic field of an infinite (planes) uniform surface current K = K x, flowing
over the xy plane (Fig.).

Q.4 A steady current I flows down a long cylindrical wire of radius a (Fig.). Find the magnetic
field, both inside and outside the wire, if
The current is uniformly distributed over the outside surface of the wire.

Q.5 Find the magnetic flux crossing the portion of the plane φ = π /4 defined by 0.01 < r <
0.05 m and 0 < z < 2 m (see Fig.). A current filament of 2.50 A along the z axis is in the az
direction.
Q.6 A 500-loop circular wire coil with radius 4.00 cm is placed between the poles of a large
electromagnet. The magnetic field is uniform and makes an angle of 60° with the plane of the
coil; it decreases at 0.200 T/s. What are the magnitude and direction of the induced emf?

Q.7 For the nonsinusoidal wave (Fig.), suppose that E = 100 V/m = 100 N/C. Find the value
of B, the energy density u, and the rate of energy flow per unit area S.

In this wave E and B are uniform behind the wave front (and zero ahead of it). Hence the
target variables B, u, and S must also be uniform behind the wave front.

Q.8
Q.9 The magnetic field between the poles of the electromagnet in Fig. 29.5 is uniform at any
time, but its magnitude is increasing at the rate of 0.020 T/s. The area of the conducting loop
in the field is 120 cm2, and the total circuit resistance, including the meter, is 5.0 Ω (a) Find the
induced emf and the induced current in the circuit. (b) If the loop is replaced by one made of
an insulator, what effect does this have on the induced emf and induced current?

Q.10 A block of iron (μ = 5000μo) is placed in a uniform magnetic field with 15 Wb/m2. If
iron consists of 8.5 × 1028 atoms/m3, calculate
a) the magnetization M
b) the average magnetic moment.
