2. What is LASIK eye surgery? How is it being done? What are its benefits
and risks?
LASIK eye surgery is the most well-known and widely used laser refractive surgery
to repair vision disorders. Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) can be used
instead of spectacles or contact lenses.
A particular form of cutting laser is used during LASIK surgery to accurately
change the shape of the dome-shaped transparent tissue at the front of your eye
(cornea) to improve vision.
In normal vision, the cornea accurately bends (refracts) light onto the retina at the
back of the eye. However, whether a person has nearsightedness (myopia),
farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism, the light is bent improperly, resulting in
impaired vision.
Although glasses or contact lenses can be used to correct vision, reshaping the
cornea will also offer the proper refraction.
Most people who undergo LASIK surgery will have well to excellent vision in
most situations. It has proven to be an effective way to permanently improve your
eyesight by correcting defects.
Complications that result in eyesight loss are quite rare. However, certain LASIK
eye surgery side effects, particularly dry eyes and temporary vision issues such as
glare, are very prevalent. Eyes that are dry. Tear production is temporarily reduced after
LASIK surgery. Your vision may suffer as a result of dry eyes. Undercorrections,
Astigmatism, Flap issues, Regression, AND Vision loss or changes are the risks of
LASIK surgery
