He studied at the Peter Lengene Adult Basic Education and Training School at Thaba-Jabula Secondary School in Klipspruit, Soweto. On July 29, 2012, he announced on Twitter that he had passed his matric, saying "I passed my matric. Am so happy, going university next year." Hotstix get his Matric

Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse went back to school after more than 4 decades to get his Matric at the age of
61.

Mabuse signed up at Peter Lengene Adult Basic Education and Training School at Thaba-Jabula
Secondary School in Klipspruit, Soweto to study for his Matric certificate. On 29 July 2012, he announced
his results on Twitter. "The news is out. I passed my matric. Am so happy, going university next year," he
tweeted

Mabuse is one of South African most popular musician. His 'Burn Out' album was a big hit in the 1980's,
selling more than 500 000 copies. He dropped out of school in 1969 when he was in grade 11 to follow
his music career. He said that hitting the limelight as a musician made him lose focus on his studies. He
explained that he always felt incomplete without education, despite his achievements as a musician.

Mabuse has been highly praised for finishing high school and matriculating fourty-five years after leaving
school. "Despite all my artistic achievements. I missed that piece of paper that could open more doors
for me...that paper called a matric certificate," he said. "My matric certificate is more important to me
than all the gold and platinum discs I have won over the years. This is primarily because I can further my
education wherever and whenever I want and I can become an even greater citizen of my country."

Mabuse says he intends to to to University to study anthropology. "He's had a lot of offers from
universities that want his as a student." Said Martin Myers, his manager.
