Vapor & Steam Relief Valve Sizing

This document provides a calculation to size the orifice for a relief valve to safely relieve a vapor flow of 24270 kg/hr at 75°C and 6.7 bara upstream pressure to a flare at 1 bara. It follows API-RP-520 methodology. The calculated required orifice area is 3697 mm2 and a recommended standard orifice size of 4116 mm2 from API-RP-526 is selected. Correction factors for discharge, back pressure, combination, and superheat are applied to accurately size the orifice.
