Photograph manipulation involves the
transformation or alteration of a photograph using
various methods and techniques to achieve desired
results. Some photograph manipulations are
considered to be skilful artwork

Stage 1 – Background Questions:
• What is image manipulation?
The process of altering an image to get what you need whether you add things to it or remove things from it
is called image manipulation.
• Where might someone see manipulated images?
In advertisement banners, on the packaging of things and to create magazine covers.
• Name 3 software can we use to manipulate images?
Software’s that we can use to manipulate images include Gimp, Krita and Photopea
Stage 2 – Revising Your Image Manipulation Skills:

• Using the lasso and fill tool, make the AFL ball disappear. Paste your image in the text box to the right:

• Using the lasso tool, place the car on the road, then use the magic want to delete the cars windows. Finally,

Stage 3 – Create These Scenarios:
• Using the skills you have revised, create images that will best suit each scenario.
• Scenario 1 - A farmer has approached you and told you he is thinking of starting a farm. As he plans his farm, he
wants a picture of what his farm may look like. Using the image below as your background, the farmer has asked
for the following:
o Divide the field into 4 using a fence
o One quarter of the field will be used for cows. Place 4 cows on the field.
o One quarter of the field will be used for rams. Place 6 rams on the field.
o One quarter of the field will be used for tractors. Place 2 tractors on the field.
o One quarter of the field will be used for a house. Place 1 house on the field.

• Scenario 2 – A city council member has approached you to design a mini AFL oval for primary school students to
use. The primary school is at the top right of the image. The AFL field needs to be a size that suits children in years
5 – 6.

Stage 4 – Reflection:
• Were your scenario creations high quality? Why/Why not?
Some of them were high quality however some of them weren’t because it was hard to edit a few things in
the images but I got how to do them properly later on.
• Did you use you class time efficiently? (Did you use each lesson to your advantage?)
Yes, I finished almost all of the scenarios in class.
