Production Process

A production process involves transforming inputs like labor, equipment, and materials into finished goods using efficient manufacturing methods. The production manager plans production schedules, trains employees, and ensures production goals and budgets are met. Companies can improve production value through obtaining customer feedback, increasing material and machine efficiency, and extending equipment lifecycles. Key elements of the production process include routing, loading, scheduling, dispatching, follow up, inspection, and corrective actions.

    Production Process?

A production process is the method of providing goods and services to customers by utilizing
economic input or resources such as labour, capital equipment, or land. The production
process typically covers how to efficiently and constructively manufacture products to sell so
that they can reach customers quickly without sacrificing product quality. Businesses can
use a variety of different production processes depending on their manufacturing goals,
production numbers, and technology tools or software systems.

·         Who is involved in the production process and what roles do they play?

The Production manager is the person responsible for planning production schedules and
ensuring that the production process is carried out within budget and on time.

Production Manager Responsibilities:

 Create a production schedule.
 Train new employees.
 Schedule regular maintenance for equipment.
 Discuss budget expectations with clients.
 Purchase the required materials.
 Ensure that health and safety protocols are adhered to.

·         How do companies upgrade their production value/quality?

Consumer Feedback:

Customer feedback is information provided by customers about their experience with a

product or service. Its purpose is to reveal their level of satisfaction and help product,
customer success, and marketing teams understand where there is room for improvement.

Material efficiency: Improved quality can mean fewer rejected parts

along with cleaner production. This adds up to a much more efficient
use of your material stock. The short-term benefits of fewer rejections
are clear. Over time, incrementally making better use of material in
production will also create a bottom-line impact.

Safety: As mentioned above and worth repeating — improved quality

management can make a difference in the safety of your facility and
your products. A full review of your maintenance processes and
employee protocols will improve your product quality just as it will the
safety of your workers, customers, and end users. ( REWRITE)

Machine lifecycles and durability: Ensuring that your machinery is

operating at optimal quality and efficiency can help lengthen the life
of your investments. Small process irregularities can quickly become
major problems, damaging product, equipment and, potentially, even
personnel. Taking steps to proactively catch any equipment errors or
inefficiencies early will not only improve the quality of your parts, but
can potentially save you repair and downtime costs, as well.

·         Elements of the production process

 Routing.
Routing manufacturing sometimes referred to as production routings, is the
route to be followed during each step of the manufacturing process
when transforming components and raw materials into a final product.

 Loading.
A load means the quantity of work, and allocating the quantity of work to
the processes necessary to manufacture each item

 Scheduling.
Production scheduling consists of the activities performed in a
manufacturing company in order to manage and control the execution of
a production process.

 Dispatching.
Dispatching is the routine of setting productive activities in motion
through the release of orders and necessary instructions according to
pre-planned times and sequence of operations embodied in route sheets and
loading schedules.
 Follow up.
Follow up is checking the manufacturing activities systematically so that
production may be carried out according to plan

 Inspection.
Inspection is the examination of products according to fixed expectations to
ensure the quality is controlled

 Corrective.
It is the measurement of output against plan, analysis of the
performance for shortcomings if any and following up the management in
order to apply corrective action to prevent excessive shortfall.
