- EDITOR
luting together this,
‘our season preview
ition, isalwaysone
ofthe mostfunjobs
ofthe year. With the
season, and its infinite possibilities,
stretching before us, wecan
anticipate the clashes to come,
along with a comforting mixof
the familiar and thenew. Andat
this point of the year, noneof my
‘overconfident predictions have
been proven wrong (yet).
Ofcourse, 2020 asa season
like no other, and 2021 won't see
anything like business as usual for
racing eelists, eams and fans. So
‘everything we are hoping to see this
year, whether that’s something as
fundamental and basic as just some
racing, ora more specifichope, like
your favourite rider winning the
‘Tour deFrance, has to beviewed
through that prism. Ifaraceis
postponed or cancelled for the year,
well, we leaen never to take it for
‘granted, and give it our full support
fora return in 2022. And inthe
same vein, every race that goes
ahead will because for celebration,
Itseems almost trivial, under
‘these circumstances, to speculate
about the racingand the riders and
Wondering who's going to win this
lor that race in 2021. But atthe same
time, cycling is sucha big part of all
ofout lives that many of us have
Ihelditelose through the darker
‘moments of the pandemic, because
ittepresentsa little normality and
it'salwaysbeen ourescape. Ireally
missed the racingbetween April
and August last year and Iwas
energised when itcame back.
[oe exactly the same way now,
as weanticipatea few early-season
races, even ift'snothinglike the
usual packed spring.
‘Solet’s celebrate the fact that
‘though there will doubtlessbe
‘headwinds along the way and
Dbumpsin the road, the sameasany
bike ride, ehere will bea calendar
ofexcitingand compelling races
‘which wil inspire us through the
season and bring some bright
colour into 2028,
