II. EVIDENCE FOR LEARNING:

This work is about writing an external analysis. Find some issues and background about
the company where you work or worked. Then, make a chart about PEST analysis and
support each of the items described.

III. INSTRUCTIONS:
In a group of 4 people, they must do the following:

1. Organize your ideas and read all the material in the platform blackboard of the course
2. Write an introductory paragraph of the company you will analyze. The company must
be a company where one of the members of the group worked or work actually.
3. Make the PEST chart (include at least 4 elements for each factor) and group the
factors according to:

☑ Political environment, e.g. tariffs, trade deals, environmental policy etc.


☑ Economic, e.g. interest rates, exchange inflation, unemployment, gross domestic
product, etc.
☑ Social, e.g. demographics, population growth rates, age distribution, job market
trends.
☑ Technology, e.g. with the introduction of new products, new technologies and
services.

4. Each element of the factors must be explaining in paragraphs outside of the chart.
Make sure you justified them with the proper bibliography and APA.
5. Bibliography must include APA.

1. INTRODUCTION:

Saga Falabella, belongs to the department store sector. The main lines it sells are Fashion, Home
Appliances and Decohogar. Saga Falabella offers its customers quality products at convenient prices
and strategic locations nationwide. It currently has 25 stores, and its subsidiaries Saga Falabella
Oriente and Saga Falabella Iquitos have 3
stores. Saga Falabella is exposed to the
performance of macroeconomic indicators
and to the future expectations of economic
agents, which could cause fluctuations in the
volume of operations.

2.1. POLITICAL:
 IT IS AN OPEN STOCK COMPANY: Saga Falabella is an open stock company, which as of
December 31, 2019 has 309 shareholders. directly and indirectly 98.39 percent of its share
capital. It is legislated by Peruvian taxation where it is governed by social legislation, labor
legislation.
 PAY UNDER FIRST CATEGORY TAXES IN PERU: Taxes under the first category tax paying taxes
under Peruvian law.
 HAS ONE AUDIT PER YEAR: Saga Falabella as a national and international company is
regulated by the different international quality standards at the national level and as an open
stock company it must have an external audit per year.
 LEGISLATED BY ISO STANDARDS: Saga Falabella, being an international company, has the
ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, which certifies that Falabella has implemented a series of
technical, organizational and legal controls and measures that minimize cybersecurity risks,
within a process of continuous improvement. That is, it has a solid information and data
protection system, a vital aspect in companies today.

2.2. ECONOMIC:
 OFFERS STRATEGY BETWEEN PRICES AND PRESENTATION: The investment of Saga Falabella,
in Peru, allocated more than 500 million in investments in 2016, for new stores in Peru.
Strategies between prices and presentation of well-lit premises, with vendors with a vocation
for service and quality uniforms
 BANKING REGULATIONS:
 OFFERS BRAND CLOTHING AT AFFORDABLE PRICES: saga falabella as in other stores has a
variety of clothes but unlike these saga offers us these clothes at a pocket price
 ECONOMIC GROWTH: At the international level, globalization, the media, means of
transportation and free trade agreements have made trends and tastes both national and
international. Being Peru one of the countries that generates more economic growth for the
fallabela industry

2.3. SOCIAL:
 IT SELLS FASHION PRODUCTS, HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES AND HOME FURNISHING: Saga
Falabella is a department store that offers a retail sales service, through the retail trade of a
wide variety of categories (fashion, furniture, beauty, home appliances, etc). Throughout the
entire service process, the use of tangible and intangible elements will be essential.
 DIVERSITY OF STORES IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES: We have a strong network of stores in
countries such as Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina and recently in Mexico, which allows us to
better reach our customers and strengthen our logistics capabilities.
 SOCIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM: Falabella has a social education program, the program is
called "Making School" which was founded in 1969, this program is over 40 years old and its
mission is to support schools with limited resources in infrastructure, knowledge, and
technology.

 SOCIAL PROJECTS IN LOCAL INTITUTIONS: Through the program, Falabella Retail seeks to
build a better future for children and their families, providing comprehensive support to the
schools surrounding the stores, distribution center and head office, actively incorporating
their workers. The program is present in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentina

2.4. TECHNOLOGICAL:
 TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS: The website has some new features in order to have a
better experience when the customer browses the page. Sales channel development.

 USE THE E-COMMERCE AS SALES CHANNEL: Saga falabella uses electronic commerce, which
consists of selling through social networks, web page, which make the customer experience
more comfortable.
 HAS A MOBILE APP: For better communication with the client, the company has a mobile
application, which will allow you to make purchases online safely and efficiently.
 WEBSITE: Saga falabella has a website, to be able to see all the products, from technology to
clothing.
