This Week
It was great seeing so many of you at Curriculum Night. Its hard to believe that Rosh Hashana is less than two weeks away. We are having fun learning about the Chagim (Holidays). The TalAm curriculum is packed with songs that really develop the students listening skills and facilitate a rich immersion experience. We reviewed the names of all of the

Tzedaka
We learned that we do teshuva (repentance), tefilla (prayer), and tzedaka (charity) to get ready for Rosh Hashana. Our class will be raising money for the

Jewish Family Services Food Bank Program. Maybe there is a chore your child(ren) can do around the house to earn a quarter or two to give to this tzedaka. I will set up a pushka (tzedaka box) in the classroom and they will have an opportunity to give tzedaka during Tefilla.

Some of the students even turned to the index page to find what page Lech Lecha started on. In addition to reading and learning the content we are learning how to use the TalAm workbook. They are learning the parts of the page, how to follow the Hebrew directions and do the different learning activities. As they gain more

For the Shabbat Table

Here are some questions to ask your child(ren) on Shabbat:
1. Can you say/sing the 12 Chodashim (months)? 2. What does ( Moledet) mean? (can you remember a second meaning?) 3. What three things was Avra(ha)m told to leave? 4. What do you think is harder: leaving your country, your family or your home? 5. What are three ways we get ready () for Rosh Hashana? 6. What is this weeks Parsaha? 7. Can you name 3 mitzvot from this weeks Parasha?

proficiency they will be able to do more and more on their own. This week we were able to do two pages in the workbook. Soon we will be able to do two pages a day. By the end of the year we will sometimes do five or even six pages a day. I hope you have gotten to see some of the TalAm workbooks and noticed the thoughtfulness of the design and the richness of the content.
