How to worship Lord Shiva

Water is very dear to Lord Shiva

ं कार प्रिय:विष्णु,जलधारा प्रिय:शिव ।


अल

नमस्कार प्रिय:भानु,ब्राह्मणो भोजनम् प्रिय: ।

अर्थात :- भगवान विष्णुजी को अल


ं कार आभूषण आदि प्रिय हैं, भगवान शिवजी को जल की धार प्रिय है

। सूर्यदे व को नमस्कार तथा ब्राह्मणों को भोजन प्रिय है

Do not eat nirmalya of Lord Shiva

विसर्जितस्य दे वस्य गंधपुष्पनिवेदनम् । निर्माल्य


ं तदविजानीयाद् वर्ज्यं वस्त्रविभूषणम् । अर्पयित्वा तु ते

भूयश्चंडेशाय निवेदयेत ् ।।

ं द पुराण की इस सूक्ति का अर्थ है शिवलिंग पर समर्पित पत्र, पुष्प, जल एवं नैवेद्य अग्राह्य हैं। भूमि,

वस्त्र, आभूषण, सोना-चांदी, तांबा छोड़कर सभी फल जलादि निर्माल्य है। उसे कुएं में डाल दे ना चाहिए।

शिव निर्माल्य पर महादे व के चंड नामक गण का चंडाधिकार होता है,

asya devasya mILhuSo vayA viSNoreSasya prabhRthe havirbhiH |


vide hi rudro rudriyaM mahitvaM yAsiSTaM vartirashvinAvirAvat ||

‘With offerings, I worship the branches of this swift-moving - Lord Visnu’.
