INTRODUCTION
Ferris has been awarded the order for detailed engineering, fabrication and erection of the
steel structures for the new RED II Green plant on the Shell premises at Pernis Rotterdam.
Purpose of this RFQ is to obtain administrative and financial offers for the detailed
engineering, tekla modelling and delivery of workshop packages for this job.
The project consists of various work packages which are assembled both on-site and off-site.
In total we are talking about a volume of 3000 T pipe racks, stair towers, compressor
buildings and platforms. Some screenshots of the constructions are shown below in this
RFQ.
The basic engineering of this project is carried out by Worley. Within the ferris organization, a
design coordinator has been appointed who acts as a first-line contact person upstream
towards shell and worley but also downstream towards various design partners.
Important to know is that ferris has to respect a certain consistency in both detailed design
and general arrangement drawings. This will also be managed by the design coordinator.
Furthermore, the entire project administration will take place via 2 external internet platforms
where within the ferris organisation a dedicated document controller will be responsible for
document flows.
ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES
Based on the received ifc, scia models and 2d drawings the main structure must be further
reengineered in detail. Main objectives are:
• Optimisation of connections
• Limit number of welding sections
• Smooth design in function of erection
• Where possible larger welded parts – in relation to max HDG dimensions
• According EC 03 and NB the Netherlands
• Using IDEA statica
All of the above based on the load input scia and applicable norms and instructions of our
design coordinator
After review and approval of principles the production of workshop drawings and general
arrangement drawings for erection according ferris’ standard is performed within a strict
timeframe. By the end of the project a revision of model/drawings will take place in order to
deliver the correct as-built files.
TIMING
According the actual “waterfall” schedule the RFC package will be deliverers as follows;
• March 2023 100T
• April 2023 255T
• May 2023 800T
• June 2023 1200T
• August 2023 330T
• September 2023 150T
Production is scheduled from May 2023 till April 2024 whereas erection continues till October
2024
CONTENT OF RFQ
For this RFQ we would like to receive a technical /commercial offer based on:
• General review of main calculation
• Detailed calculation connections – unti rate /pcs
• Modelling and workshop drawings per phase , taking into consideration the number of
repetition unit rate item (steel/handrail grating):
o for steel - unit rate/kg
o for hand railings and ladders - unit rate/m
o for gratings – unit rate/m2
• As built file lump sum
• Attendance meetings on site - rate/meeting for 4 h
• CV’s of key persons of your engineering/design team
The intention is to split up the engineering and design works between max 3 parties. This
means that model sharing will be applied during the complete process. During the
engineering phase models are weekly reviewed by Ferris and frozen.
Approval by client will be based on an ifc model exchange.
Based on the split up of works you are invited to give preference for certain work packages
