Edrian, Marife, Nefthalei, Peter, Ruzzel, Justine. “THE
EFFECTIVENESS OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY IN THE QUALITY EDUCATION
FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL GAS 12 SECTION B AND D STUDENTS OF
ACLC.”
(Undergraduate Research Study, ACLC College of Iriga,
INC.)
INSTRUCTOR: JOMAR NALDO RAMIL
Modern technology is effective in excellent
education because teachers desire to raise student
performance, and technology can help them do so.
Administrator should assist instructors in acquiring
the skills necessary to improve student learning
through technology in order to lessen the difficulties.
The use of technology in the classroom should also
facilitate teacher’s task without adding to their daily
workload.
Particularly in today’s society, everyone uses
technologies for face-to-face and online classes.
Technology is a huge convenience for the pupils.
Technology offers students quick access to
knowledge, rapid learning, and enjoyable opportunities
to put what they have learned into practice. Specially
all of the strand. It allows students to go deeper into
challenging concepts and explore new disciplines.
Modern technology is very helpful in view fact
that it can make a lot of things easier to do such a
research, in activities, and presenting report.
CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM
A. Introduction
Comprehensive overview of the field of educational
technology. Aligns the principles of how people learn with
technological tools proven effective in achieving results
across the disciplines. Includes techniques for influencing
student interaction, content presentation and
visualization, community building, and assessment.
Identifies and compares national and international
standards frameworks and introduces the knowledge base of
educational technology. Surveys the field’s instructional
design and development tools and gets the students started
creating a web portfolio containing the student’s plans for
using technology to meet national standards, workplace
needs, and/or professional development goals.
Although technological advancements have always had a
significant impact on education, the rapid development of
new technology has resulted in tectonic shifts in how
school districts approach instruction.
The effects of technology on the quality of education
will be identified and analyzed. Anyone involved in
education, today whether they are students or teachers has
information on the effect of modern technology.
Both facts and opinions and this research is made
with the purpose of getting the information. As
technology continues to progress, people and society
must adapt to the times, but what does that mean for
education, the old way of teaching is becoming more and
more involved with the technology creating a brand new
system and style of teaching in the Philippines. But
what does that mean for the quality education being
taught?
As things change for the technological standards
so do the educational standards and the system. It’s
the quality is in question does modern technology
increase the quality of education or decrease it or has
there been change in methods but in not quality? The
availability of computer systems has resulted in an
increases used of computers for teaching and learning
education. Computers and peripheral hardware enable
educators to incorporate video, sound, and animation
into instruction.
Technology can make a particularly significant
contribution when coordinated with the training of
teachers to integrate technology into their teaching,
with applications that draw on the unique capabilities
of technology, and with the supportive curricular,
assessment, and school contexts that advance complex
problem solving, creative thinking, and life-long
learning skills that are needed to support an
information society and knowledge economy. Expecting
students to be excited about a piece of technology is
like expecting a food critic to be excited about the
fork. The excitement in students should be rather about
related activities and tasks which will be formed or
done using technology as a medium, not technology
alone.
And the role of teacher would be to ignite this
excitement and create agreement and various
opportunities in classroom again with the help of
technology whenever needed. Authoring software provides
another level for computer use by allowing educators to
develop and use multimedia instruction and programs
designed for specific learning outcomes.
New technologies such as microcomputers as an
instructional tools are providing teachers and learners
the opportunity to explore alternative ways to learn
(Hansen, 1995). If these new technologies are to become
an effective component of the teaching-learning
environment, educators and media developers.
According to Cruickshank (1990) states that “by
knowing the research on what constitute the most
effective educational practices, teachers can evaluate
their practices and perhaps modify them”
In the ACLC, the school strives to be the best it
can be and providing the most they can to make the
students great. A big part of the education the school
provides: are the facilities and equipment accessible.
By striving for the best results the University needs
the best tools and resource as such the level of
technology available for the students and faculty are
what can be called functional as well as mostly
satisfactory to their needs.
B. Statement of the Problem
The study aims to determine the reason of
student’s affecting the modern technology in education
in the Senior High school of ACLC. Hence, the study
shall provide answers to the following questions:
1. What is the status of using modern technology?
a. Age
b. Gender
2. What kind of people are using the technology the
most?
3. What is the advantage and disadvantage of using
modern technology?
4. What is the significant effect of modern technology
in academic purposes?
C. Hypothesis
That the modern technology has a positive effect
and will help a lot of peoples especially in the
quality of education. And also, Modern
Technology provides students with access to countless
online resources, encouraging them to carry out
research and therefore become more independent.
D. Assumption of the Study
Herein the study was premised on the following
assumptions:
1. That 17-19 is the age that people are greatly
connected to technology.
That the grade 12 students are all using
technology.
2. Most people who use technology are the grade 12
senior high school of ACLC.
3. There is a significant effect of modern technology
in quality education.
4. The students know that there is advantage and
disadvantage on using modern technology.
5. Recommendations that will be given are the proper
awareness of using modern technology.
E. Objective of the study
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of
modern technology in the quality of education.
Specially, it aims:
- To know what are the importance of modern technology
to have a quality education.
- To learn the different aspects of modern technology
that help to provide quality education.
- To find out the effective components of modern
technology in providing quality education
- To know if the modern technology is effective or
helpful to develop a better and efficient methods for
carrying out different activities.
F. Significance of the Study
Theoretically, the study determines the effect of
using modern technology in education and the result of
our study is beneficial for the following:
Students. Consider that they are the one who receiving
an education and are the most affected by changes
compared to how it was in the past because of changes
mode to the way people are thought as a result of
technological advancement. The students are also the
one who are most familiar with the use of technology in
school and education.
Teachers. This study has benefits for the teachers as
it examines how the teachers use technology in teaching
and other things such as how they incorporate it, their
competence and how it helps their students. The
teachers will be also given the necessary suggestions
and recommendations to improve the quality of their
teaching methods.
Researchers. This study will benefit us to gain
experience in making research that will be helped us to
prepare for college. And it will help us to expertise
we can personally profit from good practice in research
data management whether it be, people or we see the
fruits of years of efforts and creativity being used in
our daily lives.
Future Researchers. This study will help us to improve
the reporting skills assessment could propose to
examine your conceptual framework and will serve as a
guide for them in future.
G .Scope and Delimitation
This study will focus on “brochure” and its effect
to the education system as a promotional tool. The
researcher will research its advantage and disadvantage
and how it helps to improve the students in academic
performance. This study is primarily focused on the
assessment of the quality of education in the senior
high school. We also focused to the student performance
in terms of using modern technology in their academic
performances.
This study was conducted from the month of July
2018 until at the end of our research which aims to
involve the participants who are connected to our
study.
H. Theoretical Framework
This study is support with the theories: The
influence of technology on Educational Theory an
Practice by Dwight W. Allen.
The influence of Theory discuss influences on
learning technologies from the related fields of
Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) and Human-
Computer Interaction (HCT). We identify two groups of
theories which have been used. The first group are
related to principled decisions about the design of the
learning materials. The Second group influence the way
in which we frame our research on learning. Research in
learning technologies in the technologies in the future
will need to draw on both groups of theories. In this
paper, we draw our own experiences as educational
technologists and the purpose of the paper is to
courage other educational technologists to join with us
in reflecting on their own use of theories.
The Modern Technology has Advantages and
Disadvantages in society especially to the
Students: You cannot imagine your world without
technology. Today it is one of the essential things
that the world needs. Technology refers to the
practical application of scientific knowledge for a
purpose. It enhances the usefulness of goods and
services and helps in creating value. It helps make any
work easier and helps us in multiple ways. Technology
has both positive and negative effects. Many people use
it for their growth, and some use it to harm society
and the ecosystem.
The Effects Of Technology on Educational Theory
and Practice takes the position the technology really
has change education and society in some dramatic ways.
Some of the advances in education brought about by the
advent of the World Wide Web.
But also express regret for the fact that the potential
of present day technology has not been fully taken
advantage and that its power is not universally
available

According to Roberta Sgarliglia (2021) Technology
is simultaneously a buzzword and a promise. It has
permeated an increasingly large portion of our lives,
including our most intimate and individual experiences,
ranging from tracking our heart rates, daily moods,
anxiety levels to recording our social interactions and
political preferences.
Goldin and Katz (2018) researched on the three
factors that increase students motivation in the
technologically enhance setting. The factors included
communication, learning, and empowerment as the
students appreciated how they interact with others in
real time by using technologies such as computers.
Connecting with others is made possible by the internet
enabling real-time communication. The learners
empowered in a technology surrounding. As they were
secluded from teachers and were less scared of relating
to others. Learners believed that computers enables
them to have control over their learning by promoting
independence (Goldin & Katz, 2018)
According to Song and Kapur (2017), “few studies
have reported how to develop students’ problem solving
skills and enhance their conceptual understanding in
flipped classroom in mathematics inquiry”. While in
this setting, students are learning more on their own,
they are missing out on some of their lecture time that
can spark deep conversation on problems. This article
looks at the different benefits and concerns of a
flipped classroom.
La Shun (2017) defines technology as something
inherently intelligent enough to either function, or be
interpreted as having a function that intelligent
beings such as human can appreciate, something devised,
designed or discovered serving particular purposes from
a secular standpoint without humankind creating it, or
significantly beneficiary or rationally derived
knowledge that is used for purpose without itself
necessarily being translated into something material
does autonomously or dependently when used.
According to Pamela DeLoatch (2015) we live in a
high tech world- with high tech classrooms, We embrace
the benefits of using iPads during class, integrating
tweets during presentations, and teaching students
world. The youth have unprecedented access to modern
technologies and use them in expected and unexpected
ways. Teen all over the world are growing up in world
in which the Internet, cellphones, text messaging,
television and video games, and other technologies
dominated their communication and are an integral part
of everyday life.
Local
The Philippine Star created an article 12th of
July 2014 about how technology helps students study
well. According to it more and more school use
technology such as computers and the internet in their
classroom and several improvements on students have
seen and they are now getting better in education.
These improvements are the following: Independence and
information gathering, Critical thinking and
reflection, Communication and collaboration, More
engaging learning experience and Preparation for jobs
later on. By connecting the internet, students learn
how to do their own research and with the large
information that they access. Students are induced to
learn to think critically. Through exchange of ideas
and messages, students are able to collaborate with
each other to test their understanding of lessons.
Information today is more engaging to the mind and the
senses because of its multimedia nature. Knowing all of
these improvements and advantages. More and more
schools are allowing not just desktop computers and
laptops, but also tablet devices and smartphones in
their classrooms.
William McCoy (2018). In younger grades, teachers
expose children to computers through educational games.
Instead of playing board games that focus on education,
students can learn the basic spelling, counting and
other early educational lessons through computer games
that make learning fun.
According to John Rifuno I. Macaset (2017) a BS
Computer Engineering, technology had played great roles
in many people’s daily tasks starting with the
conception of the personal computer. People’s work
became faster, and communication with other people
became easier. Recent years, the uses of technology in
education has been proven beneficial to both teachers
and student.
With the use of the internet, teachers are able
to communicate with their students more easily, and
allows them to distribute learning materials such as
assignments, exercise, and tests to their pupils.
Vaishali Sinha (2017). The technology is very
useful for the students, they can take the courses and
attain their degree online just as any student on
campus as the technology provides many chances for the
students all over the world to receive an education
online. The technology can cause the tendonitis in the
thumb which is form of repetitive strain injury caused
by the frequent use of thumbs to press buttons on
mobile devices or playing too many video games.
According to John Paul Espinosa (2016)
technological advances had greatly changed the
education landscape in the teaching is no longer
confined to the traditional face-to-face delivery of
lessons. Now, via internet we can also learn not only
in the classroom but outside the school. Through the
convergence of modern and traditional methods, students
are now able to experience the best of both worlds.
They can learn from school and get additional
information or lessons through the web and internet. A
survey conducted by person foundation in the united
states found that more than six in 10 college students
and senior high school that they study more efficiently
by using tablets.
A study conducted by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in
California also showed that students using iPads
performed better in math compared to students using
traditional textbooks. Another study at Oklahoma State
University found that 75 percent of students said the
use of gadgets enhanced their learning experience. Even
though that the parents and some teacher fear that
gadgets may distract student.
Surveys and studies have shown that these
technological devices are a big help in learning.
Today, more states administered tests for the
elementary and high school through the internet,
discarding the use of the traditional pen and paper.
According to a blog posted by Angel de Dios(2012)
How technology affects learning from the views of
teachers, With iPads, Facebook, smartphones, video
games, music, and others, technology now occupies a
significant amount of child’s time in the United
States(almost eight hours a day - National Center for
Education Statistics, USA).
Students in the Philippines probably face the same
increasing amount of time spent on these activities
provided by technology. Thus, it is time to ask how
current technology affects student learning. The
response from teachers is particularly important since
their perspective comes directly from the classroom.
Jordan and Donnerstein (2010) allude to the fact
that modern technology can affect adolescents by not
only displacing time they do their Homework, but also
influence behaviours. Teens can download violent,
videos, send sexual text messages, buy cigarettes and
beer on the internet, and post enticing profiles on

RELATED STUDIES
This foreign related studies discussed about the
factors of modern technology. It shows that the Modern
Technology is very helpful nowadays.
Foreign Studies
According to Hackley (2016) technologies distance
learning is becoming increasingly important to business
curricula. However, little theoretical development or
empirical research has examined teaching effectiveness
in distance learning. Thus, this article draws from
research in management communications, education, and
information systems to develop an initial
conceptualization of influences on technology-mediated
distance learning outcomes.
It then reports on an exploratory study utilizing both
qualitative and quantitative techniques to examine 247
students’ reactions to such distance learning.
According to Siegel, (2016) recent developments
such as the internet also led to a decline in “normal”
social behaviours. “The old-fashioned cafe provided a
way to both share and abandon solitude, but sitting in
your screen world is a whole other story. You are
socially and psychologically cut off from your fellow
caffeine addicts” In ages past, you could walk around
town for a whole day without seeing all the people you
know.
Now, everyone you know is within arm’s reach,
taking that certain psychological feeling out of seeing
people. You see them every second every day, and hear
nearly every single thought of their as soon as they
think them. Years ago, it was predicted by many that
the future would be an amazing and surreal place, yet,
no one really seems very shocked about the advantages.
You can see evidence everywhere. The news is a
great example-you see or read an interesting story,
think about it for a second, and then you brush it over
your shoulder, without any critical thinking, or
wondering how it will affect your life.
According to Niehaves, B. & Plattfaut, R. Eur J
Inf Syst (2014) is that Information technology (IT) has
significantly changed the way we live and work. For
instance, Internet-based and electronic business has
complemented and sometimes even superseded traditional
offline channels.
Online channels offer distinct value (e.g.,
constant availability) and, due to their cost
structure, are often less expensive than store-bound
distributions. As a result, companies often establish
online channels as ‘privileged channels’ to support
their objectives of cost-cutting and service
optimization. An example of privileged channel is
online check-in.
IT is also becoming important building block in
other ideas. Smart homes and national digital identity
cards (Whitley & Hosein, 2008) are two example of IT
steadily defusing into more areas of our daily lives.

Local studies
According to [Link] (2014) there have been
several improvements in how students nowadays are
getting their education. These improvements, which have
been noted by teachers and school administrators,
include the following: Independence and information
gathering.
By connecting to the Internet, students learn how
to do their research. The wealth of information
available on the Web plus the ease of using search
engines give students more independence and confidence,
as well as increased skill, when it comes to finding
relevant data and putting these data together to meet a
learning requirement or goal.
Critical thinking and reflection. With the large
volume of information that they access, students are
induced to learn to think critically: which information
is accurate? Is this information useful to the homework
or subject at hand? Is this information useful to the
homework? Or subject at hand? Is this information
validated by multiple sources and by the latest
research findings? Students learn not to simply accept
any data, no matter how readily available. With the
guidance of their teacher, they are able to practice
critical thought.
Communication and collaboration. Through the
exchange of ideas and messages-either by e-mail, chat,
or even social media- students are able to collaborate
with each other to test their understanding of lessons,
they can be more easily ask questions to one another
and provide answers and share research data. They can
also help verify each other’s work, and involve their
teachers in this collaborative and communication loop.
More engaging learning experience. Information today is
more engaging to the mind and the senses because of its
multimedia nature. Students have text, image, video,
audio, and even animation to help them better
understand concepts and ideas relevant to their
lessons. This multimedia experience let’s this
information be better in grained in their minds.
Preparations for jobs later on. The jobs that students
will be hired for, and the professions they practice,
will require them to have working knowledge of computer
is in the workplace, as well as for communication and
information processing.
Have students use computers and the internet in the
classroom prepares them for this future work
environment.

D. RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
The research instrument is the method used to
collect data. In this research, the instrument are the
questionnaire and interview of the respondents. The
researchers have used two methods in collecting data,
the method of interview and questionnaires.
In conducting interview we collect data by
personally asking the students about the reason why
they used modern technology in learning and the
questionnaire was the main instrument in gathering
data. The researchers adapted the mentioned instrument
and techniques which were most appropriate for gaining
insights on the effects of modern technology to the
performance level of the students. The draft of the
questionnaire drawn out based on the researcher’s
readings, previews studies that is relevant to the
study.
The questionnaire has two parts: the first
question involves the personal data about them, the
second part is the question for them.
Interview guide questions
1. How does modern technology affect your way of
learning?
2. Has technology made learning easier for you?
3. Would you say that technology is positively or
negatively influence education?
4. How vital do you think technology is in
education?
E. STATISTICAL TOOLS AND TREATMENT
Researcher organized and tabulated the data
gathered though the use of survey questionnaire. For
this study, researcher used the LikertScale in order
to statistically and critically understand the
