UPPER-INTERMEDIATE

1. Who are the people you feel have most common with? Do you always feel on the same wavelength?
Why/Why not?

2. Why do you think people are bitten by the travel bug? Do you ever have itchy feet? What destinations
would you like to visit and why?

3. Is it common for people to emigrate from your country? If so, where do they go and what are their
reasons? Do you think they find what they are looking for?

4. Do you think it’s important for students to do languages, sport, music and drama at school? Why/why
not? Which do you think are the three most important subjects to study at school? Why?

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of working from home?

6. What do you think about extreme sports? Would you describe yourself as a risk-taker?

7. Name 5 things you used to enjoy doing when you were younger but no longer do? Describe one or
two big changes in your life, e.g. moving house/school/job

8. When was the last time you bought something extravagant? What do you think about auctions and
haggling?

9. Is leadership a natural-born talent or a learned skill? What qualities does a successful leader need?

10. Which TV crime dramas have you watched? What types of crimes are usually involved in dramas of
this kind?
