Red Wine Varietals Guide

Red wine is made from dark-skinned grapes rather than light-skinned grapes. During the production process, the grape juice, or must, is allowed to macerate and ferment with the dark grape skins, which adds color, flavor, and tannin to the wine. The dark grape skins are what give red wine its characteristic color.
