Background of the Study
According to Odiri (2015), study habit is different individual behavior about
studying and a combination of study method and skill. In other words, study habits
include behaviors and skills that can increase motivation and convert the study into an
effective process with high returns, which ultimately increases learning.
In the study of Jafari, Aghaei, and Khatony (2019) Academic performance of
students is one of the main indicators used to evaluate the quality of education in
universities. Academic performance is a complex process that is influenced by several
factors, such as study habits.
Study habit is different individual behavior about studying and is a combination
of study methods and skills. In other words, study habits include behaviors and skills that
can increase motivation and convert the study into an effective process with high returns,
which ultimately increases learning.

The grade 12 Lapulapu students' study habits are shown in the table, with the
majority of them selecting Sometimes. As a result, they contribute little, draft poorly, and
undermine academic performance. In conclusion, students' study habits have a significant
influence on their academic performance.
Methodology
In this study, we observe different groups in our section on how their study habits
affect their academic performance. We used the self-made questionnaire to determine the
study habits and academic performance of Grade 12 HUMSS Lapulapu students. We
selected 15 respondents in our section a total of 45 students.
The questionnaire has 5 questions which the respondents answer Always (5),
Usually (4), Often (3), Sometimes (2), and Never (1), which most of them answered
Sometimes. Hence, they barely participate, draft, and break their Academic Performance.
In conclusion, the study habits of the students have a great impact on their Academic
Performance.
The objective of the study
This study aims to identify the study habits of the students and how they can affect
to their academic performance.
Recommendation
1. To the students and incoming grade 11, the key to becoming an active student is
to learn how to study smarter, not harder. This can be an advantage in your
education. An hour or through of studying a day is usually sufficient to make it
through high school with satisfactory grades, but when college arrives, there aren't
enough hours in the day to get all your studying, done if you don't know how to
study smarter. Do you find yourself keep studying late at night, expending more
energy trying to keep your eyelids open when you are studying? If so, it's time for
a change. Successful students typically space their work-out over shorter periods
and rarely try to cram all of their studying into just one or two sessions. If you
want to become a successful student then you need to learn to be consistent in
your studies and to have regular, yet shorter, study periods. Successful students
schedule specific times throughout the week when they are going to study and
then they stick with their schedule. Students who study sporadically and
whimsically typically do not perform as well as students who have a set study
schedule. Even if you're all caught up with your studies, creating a weekly
routine, where you set aside a period a few days a week, to review your courses
will ensure you develop habits that will enable you to succeed in your education
long term. Not only it is important that you have a plan when you're going to
study, but it’s also important you create a consistent, daily study routine. When
you study at the same time each day and each week, you're studying will become
a regular part of your life. You'll be mentally and emotionally more prepared for
each study session and each study session will become more productive. If you
have to change your schedule from time to time due to unexpected events, that's
okay, but get back on your routine as soon as the event has passed.
2. Simply studying without direction is not effective. You need to know exactly
what you need to accomplish during each study session. Before you start
studying, set a study session goal that supports your overall academic goal.
3. To the influencer you must teach the students on how their study habits help their
academic performance wisely.
4. For the future researcher, this study can help to determine the impact of study
habits on academic performance.
