SHRADDHA SUKTA
Dedication and commitment to any purpose is called Shraddha.
Shraddha is not just faith as generally people understand in
common language.
It is said by one of the great teachers, Adi Shankaracharya,
shraddha as “considering the words of guru and scientific
approach as the fact and following it until you accomplish a
success, is Shraddha”. So, all of us have to have some kind of
Shraddha on our duty, responsibility, work, worship, action etc.
Shraddha Suktam is the collection of Mantras where shraddha
has been considered as paramount in the world to accomplish.
The Suktam describes how evil forces are uprooted with
Shraddha, how the universe is running by Shraddha.

OBJECTIVES

3.1 LET US LEARN SHRADDHA SUKTA
Shraddha makes the fire burn splendidly. The oblation
is offered with Shraddha. Shraddha is the best among
all kinds of wealth. We assert this fact with our words
of praise.

Note
O Goddess Shraddha, bestow pleasing and
agreeable things on the charitable one and on
the one who wishes to be charitable. I pray that
you may bestow the pleasing and agreeable on
those who perform rituals for enjoying the
fruits thereof.

Note
The gods pay particular attention to the
frightening demons (or: they show reverence to
the superior gods). In the same way, O Goddess
Shraddha, (we are showing reverence to you).
Kindly fulfill our intent towards our priests who
perform rituals to enjoy the fruits thereof.
The devatas and the performers of rituals, protected by the God
Vayu, are worshiping Goddess Shraddha. All worship Goddess

Shraddha with (devotional) intent in their heart. One gains
wealth through Shraddha.
Note
We invite the Goddess Shraddha in the morning. We invite
Goddess Shraddha at noon and at sunset. O Goddess Shraddha,
bless us that we may have Shraddha in this life, at this time,
and in this place.
