Mga Aral nang Katipunan ng mga A.N.B. Response

walang lilim, kundi damong makamandag your means for a Filipino is a man of his own and a
man for other people. It is not necessary but for me
when I can get to help other people, I feel happy and
fulfilled. In our life as Filipinos, we experience
hardships and it is something to be proud of that in
times like this, our fellow Filipinos help us in ways
they can too because I believe that it is not wrong if
you won’t help but not helping knowing you have the
means makes it wrong.
2. Ang gawang magaling na nagbubuhat sa We can truly be free if we do things we love for our

happy and fulfilled and not just waiting for something
to be received by doing such things. I can see how
other Filipinos try really hard to work to let everyone
see his/her success in life. It’s not wrong actually but
isn’t it more fulfilling to do work and to do things for
yourself? To make yourself happy and fulfilled? Let’s
do better.
3. Ang tunay na kabanalan ay ang pagkakawang Piety. Being religious or reverent. I know a lot of

you only care for yourself, stop minding other
people’s business, loving your family and friends and
being good to others while worshipping the Lord is
what really makes you pious. It is not through
worshipping alone we can measure someone’s piety
but through the actions he/she shows and treats
other people as well.
4. Maitim man at maputi ang kulay ng balat, lahat In life, there are other people better, smarter and

mean one is white-skinned he/she is way better than
you. This has been a problem in the society
especially today. We laugh at those who are dark-
skinned but worships those who have the porcelain
skins. Skin color is not a social status. It is important
to appreciate our own colors. Know better and stop
colorism.

are really Filipinos who doesn’t care if they are
already doing disgusting things just for their own
even if it means stepping on other people. And we
should not be like that. Truly, Filipinos are known for
being hospitable. And being inconsiderate of other
people just for your own interest will not do you any
good. In this lifetime, a person must not only thinks of
her/himself especially if you are blessed on your
status in life.
6. Sa taong may hiya, salita’y panunumpa. Today, we all need sensible people around us.
Especially now that we all have been struggling and
the only thing we can afford is a sensible person.
Someone whom we can share things without
worrying if that person will spread what you’ve just
said. It’s like having a person whom you can trust
count on and will make sure you feel assured and
secured all the time especially on your life’s
happenings.

all just be memories. Let us cherish and value what
we have today because we might regret not enjoying
now and truly, time will not come back for you.
8. Ipagtanggol mo ang inaapi, at kabakahin ang This is very common to us Filipinos because we
umaapi. always stand for what is right. We attest for the
person who is oppressed and we defy the oppressor
because we care for those people whom we know
needs our help big time.
9. Ang taong matalino’y ang may pagiingat sa Most of us look for people with high quality. A person

we said to themselves. This trait is what makes a
person intelligent because he/she respects the bond
you shared together and values the things you
shares to them.

decide for our future. If we won’t think properly, we
will put ourselves on danger. And if we apply our
decision-making to the people that surrounds us, we
also drag them with the bad decisions we might have.
11. Ang babai ay huag mong tignang isang bagay This conduct is not common anymore to most of us

want to be dominant to the point that they forget that
it is a woman who gave birth to them and made them

Description of Context
Emilio Jacinto also referred to as the “Utak ng Katipunan” is the author of the document. His pen
name is Dimas-Ilaw and he is also known as the Pingkian of their group. Accordingly, the original
version is composed of 14 values that should be possessed by the new members who wish to be
part of the KKK. Its main purpose is to free the Philippines from the oppressors and have its
independence against the invaders. In 1986, Kartilya ng Katipunan was written by Jacinto while
fighting for the freedom and independence of the Philippines from the Spaniards who accordingly,
mishandled and treat Filipinos in a merciless way with a shed of blood. The document is relevant
today because it serves as a moral to us, Filipinos of how eager our National Heroes were who stood
by their mission, vision and goals to be able to free the Philippines from the invading countries way
back.
